Chapter 25 Selene’s POV
“Welcome sister! I only wish things were different this time. We still have a
chance though. But I get ahead of myself.” Selene says, she moves forwards
to hug Katia and pet Aza. “I have missed you so and I know you are
confused. I will explain everything.”
Aza nudges Selene with her nose, “I tried hard this time, Selene. They
found us too quickly and we were too young.”
Bending down, Selene continued to rub Aza’s nose and planted a kiss on the
top of her head. “I know sweet girl. You did so well. Like I said, we may
still have a chance at life for both of us. Let me speak with Katia and
explain. Then we will have a run and picnic.”
Aza settles down next to Katia. She is never far from her beloved human,
especially when they are allowed their separate bodies. It makes her
uncomfortable to not know immediately if Katia needs her and she is okay.
She nestles her head next to Katia’s feet and decides to nap while the sisters
speak with one another.
Selene grabs ahold of Katia’s hand and pulls her forwards, “let me look at
you. Ah, what have they done to you this time, my sweet twin?” Her eyes
sparkled with tears as she ran her hands over her sister’s body. Hugging her
once more, Selene feels how small and weak her sister’s poor body is.
“I think Aza is right. Our enemies found you too quickly this time. You
were too young in mind and body to withstand the torture and abuse.”
Selene continued to hug her tightly.
Katia blinks back her own tears and leans into the hug finally. “You are my
sister? We are twins. It was you who rescued me as a baby.”
“Come Titi. That is my name for you. Let’s sit and talk while Aza naps.”
Selene pulls Katia to the ground. She keeps ahold of her, and Katia feels
like she is whole again. She feels warm and protected in her sister’s arms.
Looking at the moon goddess, Katia asked, “Am I a goddess also?”
Selene laughs, “So many questions. Let’s start with the goddess one. Yes,
you are a goddess also. Our parents were great Titans. Hyperion was our
father and Theia our mother. Very few know that our mother gave birth to
twin girls. They tried to keep the fact that we were identical twins quiet to
keep us safe. Unfortunately, titans have enemies which became ours when
they were born. Due to the jealousy of the power gifted to us from Zeus, we
have been marked for death from the moment we were born. We have an
older brother, Helios, whom some like to claim is our father, and a sister,
Eos. What you guessed it, our enemies want to claim her as our mother.”
“Do they still live?” Katia questioned.
“Yes, in this realm of the gods. They are here and you will visit them all
soon, sister.” Selene smiled gently at Katia.
“What powers do I have? Why am I hated so? Why is all of this
happening?” The questions could go on forever, but Katia knew she needed
to take a deep breath and let her sister speak.
Selene sighed, “Oh my dear sweet Titi. I know you are so hurt and
confused. What has been done to us, over the centuries, has been so unfair.
We continue to endure though and try to break free. Once I am finished
explaining, you will see and agree we still have a chance this time. I know
you will.”
“Tell me sister, what powers I possess and how did they come about?”
Katia implored.
“When we were born, we were as we are now. I have white hair and you
have black hair. Our hair, and the slight altercation of our scents, are the
only differences between us. Everything else is the same. Zeus took one
look at us and declared that we were the two halves of one moon. We were
the goddesses of the moon. We will ebb and flow with the new and full
moons. The werewolf species were created in our name. I, with the white
hair, was given the power to mate the wolves together. Creating the mate
bond. The fated mate bond is the strongest. A chosen mate bond is allowed
with my blessing when there is no other option. I oversee the continuation
of the species. My sister with the black hair was bestowed the power to
assign the wolf to a human. Giving you the ability to oversee their humanity
while continuing the baser needs of the animal instincts everyone is born
with.”
“I match the person with the wolf. Who gave Aza to me?” Katia was
shocked to hear this story. “Who has been taking care of my part during
these last seventeen years?”
“From the moment our children were created, our wolves appeared. Your
wolf Aza is sister to my wolf Loza. I continue the wolf assignments while
you are out of the know in the beginning of your earth realm life. Just as
you take care of the mate bonds for me when it is my turn to try and give us
a chance at a normal life and love”, Selene explained.
“Ahhh Titi, we are two halves to one whole. We know exactly what the
other thinks and always does. It is taking you some time to remember
because this life has been worse than any other. We are not usually tortured
and punished so severely before our death comes. Zeus gave us both one
other gift that has taken us a millennium to figure out. He gave us both the
gift of light. The older we get, the brighter our light shines and attracts
others. The problem seems to be that the eviler the person attracted the
more they want us and to control us.”
Katia jumped up and spun to look at her sister, “I call you Lili and we
agreed on this trip to the Earth realm. During my turn we were going to
keep fighting for our chance. We will not give up this time. What
happened? Why am I back already?”
“Mom and dad’s enemies found you almost right away. It was like someone
tipped them off. I can’t figure out who though. When the original parents
chosen to give birth to you were killed, I left you where I thought you
would be found by the correct pack and taken in. Giving us more time. The
wrong pack and people found you. I am sorry Titi.” Selene sniffled.
“It’s okay. I am sorry I did not make it very far in that life. Maybe if I could
have remembered why I was there, it would have been different.” Katia
whispered. “Why do our parents’ enemies want to kill us so badly?”
Selene sighed once again. “They are jealous of the power mom and dad
have as titans. They think that Zeus and Hera favor them too much. Mom
and dad’s enemies know they cannot touch them, so they come after us.
They refuse to let us live a life where we can experience what it is like to be
human and live in that realm. They do think it fair for Zeus to allow us that
type of favor just because of our heritage.”
“Lili, you say there is still a chance for this to happen to us. How?” Katia
curiously wants to know now that she is starting to remember her goddess
life.
“Well, you were not supposed to end up in the Night Shade pack or the
Blood Meadow pack. I screwed up a little tiny bit and you were not actually
supposed to be fated to Alpha Lorn of the Starlight pack. You were
supposed to end up in the Snow Moon pack fated for Alpha Nathan.”
Selene confessed.
“How does that give us a chance still?” Katia questioned.
“Just as you and Aza decided you could take no more and end your life, you
found the Snow Moon pack and Alpha Nathan. He is your fated second
chance mate thanks to me having the ability to fix my mistake. He has you
at his hospital after rescuing you from the pond at the bottom of the
waterfall. They have been working around the clock for days trying to save
their Luna.” Selene quietly explained. “Not to mention, almost the entire
Blood Meadow pack is almost at their gates after tracking you. They refuse
to leave you. They have decided if you do not survive, they will become a
new pack, the Moon Touched pack, and make you proud.”
“Whaaat? I had hoped they would find happiness but such faith in little me
who cannot even speak properly.” Katia could not believe what her sister
was telling her.
“Don’t you see Titi? We have never been so close, and we have never been
able to gain this much love and support, but we have a chance. A chance to
live, love, show that our kind is not inherently evil. They are like everyone
else. They want the same that others want for their loved ones, children, and
communities.” Selene’s voice had taken on a pleading quality now.
“Please, Titi, say you will go back to the Earth realm. I promise I will be
there for you and Alpha Nathan has waited his whole life for you. You will
never want to leave once you experience the love our kind shares.” She is
pleading now.
“Please, please, Katia, give us this chance.
