Chapter 7 

I had barely taken a few steps when a tight, unforgiving hand clamped down hard on my 

wrist. 

A familiar, shrill voice pierced through the air. 

It was Mom. Her voice was filled with white–hot rage as she scolded, “You cursed wretch! You couldn’t even keep your own pup, and now you’re here to ruin Rose’s moment? She finally gave her husband a pup, and you show up today of all days to stir’up trouble? You’re 

vile and vicious! 

“We already severed our ties and banished you from this family! And you still have the 

nerve to come back and embarrass us in public, you bitch?” 

The more she shouted, the more venomous her words became. Her voice tore through the entire banquet hall, and all conversation ceased as every guest turned to stare. 

The atmosphere became tense. 

Nate stepped forward, too, with a slight frown. 

“Diana, that’s enough. Stop making a scene,” he warned in a low tone. 

I looked at him frostily. 

Who was he trying to quiet? Was this his way of telling me to stay silent? To keep their filthy acts buried deep inside my heart forever? 

“Enough!” Dad roared suddenly. 

His face was contorted with rage as he raised his hand and struck me across the face with 

brutal force. 

He shouted, “We never should’ve taken you in!” 

My ears buzzed with a loud ring, and my cheek stung painfully. The outward sensations I

felt were a sharp contrast to the cold clarity in my heart. 

So that was it.

They weren’t biased and favored Rose more. It was just that I was never truly theirs to begin with. I wasn’t their blood or family. 

Slowly, I turned to look at the man who had once so righteously said that I was his daughter. 

The corners of my lips curved into a cutting smile. 

Just then, another voice cut through the eerie silence. “Enough!” 

The booming voice was powerful and commanding. It made everyone turn their heads over 

in unison. 

The regal lady whom I came with strode across the hall with long, purposeful steps. She 

stood in front of me to shield me behind her. 

Her eyes were piercing as she locked her gaze on the Roth family. 

Her voice was low, but it carried the weight of long–suppressed fury. “You say she isn’t your daughter. Then it’s time your lies end.” 

Elle scoffed, trying to hold on to her dignity. “And who are you? What right do you have to interfere with how we discipline our daughter?” 

Just then, Rose’s in–laws rushed over. Their expressions shifted dramatically, and they 

spoke with utmost respect and reverence. 

“You… Are you Luna Queen Victoria, mate of the Alpha King of the North?” 

Upon hearing that, the Roths‘ face became drained of color. 

Victoria Langley gave the crowd a frosty glance, as if she were staring at insignificant ants. 

She declared, “If she isn’t your daughter, then let’s run a blood test. I have reason to

Gasps rippled through the hall. 

I stood quietly behind Victoria as I watched the scene unfold. 

Then, one corner of my lips slowly curled into a vicious half–smile. 

turned my gaze toward Rose’s in–laws. In a calm and chilling voice, I said, “If I was never their pup, then I owe them nothing. I won’t bother sparing any of their dignity.” 

I paused, letting my eyes sweep across the Roth family members. Then, I trained my eyes 

on Rose. 

“You’d better look into that pup’s origins. You wouldn’t want to be coddling someone else’s 

pup, thinking it’s your precious grandson.” 

The moment those words fell, Rose became as pale as a sheet and stood frozen in her spot.
