Thomas spoke from the side. “Jamie even had the audacity to demand an apology from Sharon.”
Wendy let out a cold snort. “Shaineless brute.”
If she wanted revenge on Jamie, it wasn’t enough to target him alone. She needed to strike
from within the Walton family itself.
Now that she had come to Marcentine, her earlier plan could finally be set in motion.
Wendy hadn’t been idle these past few days. She had already tracked down information
about Lesley’s whereabouts.
Or rather… there were no whereabouts.
Because of his disability, Lesley never left the house, not even past his own gates.
At the same time, Wendy uncovered another piece of information: not only was Lesley crippled, but he was also blind.
She suspected it was Jamie’s doing—his cruel, sadistic nature was capable of anything.
A blind cripple had no chance of competing for the patriarch’s seat.
Wendy hesitated. Perhaps she should choose someone else.
But then again, no one else in the Walton family bore such a deep grudge against Jamie.
And on second thought, a blind man might actually be useful-easy to control, less likely to notice if she slipped away with confidential information.
The problem was, she had no way of approaching him.
Unless…
Her eyes flickered. She could apply to work as one of his household servants.

Wendy wavered.
Sharon noticed her heavy expression and asked softly, “Wendy, is something troubling you?”
Snapping back to the moment, Wendy smiled. “No, I was just wondering, what evidence does Thomas actually hold?”
Thomas answered, “I don’t have it yet. Once I do, you’ll be the first to know.”
Sharon wasn’t concerned. She only looked forward to watching Jamie and the Kalen family rage in humiliation when the time came.
As they were leaving the banquet hall, Wendy suddenly remembered something.
“By the way, Sharon, why isn’t Julliard here? Didn’t you say he would attend?”
Sharon frowned, equally surprised. “He did say he was coming. You didn’t see him at all?”
“No,” Wendy replied. “Do you think he stayed away to avoid running into Carter?”
Sharon’s brows knit slightly. “But Kelly isn’t around anymore. Julliard shouldn’t have any reason to avoid Carter.”
It had been a long time since Wendy had even thought of Kelly. She used to loathe that pretentious woman with a passion, but ever since crossing paths with Jamie, her hatred of Kelly seemed trivial in comparison.
“Kelly’s been unusually quiet,” Wendy remarked. “That’s not like her at all. Sharon, have you heard anything about her lately?”
“No,” Sharon said. “After she threw acid on Victoria, I’m assuming both the Kalen family and Jamie have been after her. She wouldn’t dare show her face.”
Wendy laughed. “I still don’t know what got into her, throwing acid on Johanna of all people. But whatever her reason, watching them tear each other apart was truly satisfying.”

Wendy turned to him. “So you think so too? When things go against her nature, there’s always something brewing. We can’t afford to drop our guard. If she teams up with the Walton siblings again, she could cause us plenty of trouble.”
A dark gleam flickered in Thomas’s eyes. “Don’t worry. She won’t.”
Wendy said, “You can’t be certain. Corner a dog, and it’ll leap the wall. Kelly has been driven to desperation. Who knows what extreme measures she might take?”
