“That being said, Sharon is a Kalen now. She’s our sister. We’re obligated to protect he,” Silas said. 

Thomas turned his gaze on Silas, his eyes sharp with unspoken questions. “What are you getting at, exactly?” 

“If Sharon is lying and slandering Jamie, it reveals a fatal flaw in her character,” Silas stated coolly. “A person like that has no future in the Kalen Group.” 

Thomas didn’t blink. “So what’s your solution?” 

“Sharon should hand over her original shares,” Silas replied, his tone flat and final. 

At those words, Sharon didn’t so much as furrow her brow. Her composure was unsettling. 

Thomas asked again, his tone deceptively casual. “Do you mean she should hand them over outright, or do you intend to buy them?” 

Scott let out a derisive snort. “Sharon is the one who dragged the Kalen name through the mud. We’re the ones who have to manage this public relations disaster. Don’t you think she should pay a price for that?” 

Thomas arched a brow. 

“So your brilliant plan is to frame her and then seize her shares? Just take them, for free?” 

His words, stripped of all pretense, landed like a physical blow. These were men who prided themselves on their respectable facade. Now, caught in the stark light of their own greed, they flushed with a mixture of shame and anger, their expressions turning sour. 

Rick, more seasoned than Scott and Silas, felt a prickle of embarrassment himself. He cut the two off with a sharp rebuke. 

“Silas, Scott, what nonsense are you spouting? Even if Sharon were willing to give up her original shares, we would purchase them. How could we let her surrender them for

Silas and Scott fell silent. 

After a long pause, Silas muttered, “We were only joking.”

He leaned forward, his gaze turning sharp. “If we can prove she was completely innocent, then as compensation, the Kalen family will grant her an additional ten percent of its shares. How does that sound?” 

Silas’s face flushed a deep, angry red. “You want ten percent of our company over some dead and buried scandal? You might as just well hold us up at gunpoint!” 

“Don’t worry,” Thomas replied coolly. “Sharon doesn’t take handouts, and she doesn’t cheat. We’ll acquire the shares properly, paying the highest market price.” 

Scott let out a derisive snort. “Acquire? Do you have any idea what it costs to buy even one percent of the Kalen Group? What makes you think a woman like her is qualified to pull that 

off?” 

A confident smile played on Thomas’s lips. “Shall we make a wager, then? If Sharon can raise the capital within the agreed timeframe, you are obligated to sell her the shares. If she fails… she will sell her original stake back to the Kalen family.” 

His words were bold, bordering on insolent. 

But Sharon’s expression remained calm, almost indifferent. She showed no sign of wanting 

to interrupt him.

Silas let out a mocking laugh. “You’re just a bodyguard, yet you dare mouth off here as though you matter. Do you even know your place? Forget Sharon-even the heads of the great families wouldn’t make such reckless claims.”
