Chapter 961
Wendy exploded.
“What the hell do you mean?! Are you saying Sharon crippled her own hands just to kidnap Lex? Do you honestly think Lex is worth that much?”
Damien sneered.
“Everyone knows Sharon’s ex-husband is Carter, and that her pursuer is Xavier. For the two of them, staging a kidnapping in Zachemaine would be child’s play.
“And crippling her hands? What does that matter? Without a convincing act, who would ever believe it? Besides, no matter how grave the injury, as long as my grandpa is around, it can be healed.”
His gaze dropped to the file in Sharon’s hand, and for a moment, jealousy flared in his eyes.
He was Uriah’s grandson, yet never once had the old man offered him such an invaluable resource. And now, here it was-handed to an outsider, a woman with no blood ties at all.
At last, Uriah understood what this was really about.
He cut Damien off with a deep, commanding voice.
“Damien, Lex’s disappearance has nothing to do with Sharon. Stop making trouble here. Leave at once and let her recover in peace. Otherwise, I’ll have you thrown out myself.”
Though long retired, he was still the founder of the Malcolm Group. No matter how much Damien resented Sharon, even he had to
respect Uriah’s authority.
Damien gave Sharon one last frigid glare before turning on his heel and leaving.
Cole stayed behind, his voice ingratiating.
“Grandpa, Damien’s been in a bad mood lately. Please don’t take his words to heart. As for Uncle Lex, we’ll keep sending people to
search-”
He didn’t get to finish. Uriah waved him off impatiently.
“Enough. Go. I don’t want to see either of you right now.”
Cole hurried after Damien.
Out in the corridor, the two of them nearly collided with Xavier, who was on his way to visit Sharon. They didn’t exchange a word. With their positions so clearly opposed, there was no point pretending otherwise.
Inside the ward, Xavier arrived just as Uriah was preparing to leave. Uriah gave him a nod and walked out.

Chapter 961
Xavier asked, “Were Damien and Cole here to see Uriah?”
Wendy scoffed. “No. They came to put Sharon on trial.”
Xavier raised a brow. “On trial?”
“That’s right. Lex’s been missing all this time, and Damien claims Sharon kidnapped him. He even said she staged her injuries as
some kind of ploy.”
Wendy quickly recounted everything that had just happened.
Xavier’s eyes darkened. “Lex has been missing all this time?”
Wendy shrugged. “Maybe Jamie and Lex were afraid the kidnapping would be exposed and turned on each other. It could even be Lex who had hired the assassin to go after Jamie. And then Jamie, furious, had Lex kidnapped in return… wiped him out to silence
him.”
Xavier was speechless
That imagination of hers was something else.
His gaze shifted, subtle but meaningful, landing on Thomas.
By now, nearly everyone knew he had regained his memories-along with his true surname. Still, they hadn’t changed the way
they talked to him. 1
Xavier suddenly said, “Speaking of which, Sharon was only rescued so quickly thanks to Thomas.”
Both Sharon and Wendy turned to him, puzzled.
He smiled and explained, “The moment I landed, I got a call from Thomas. He told me you’d gone out of contact, that something must have happened, and urged me to rush straight to Listoria City. If not for him, Jamie might not have fled so quickly.”
