Chapter 944
Sharon asked, “What about Thomas?”
Wendy hesitated before answering. “He probably rushed back the moment he heard you were hurt. But… his own affairs aren’t settled yet. It looks like he went back to deal with them.”
When she recalled Thomas’s expression, it had struck her as strange-unfamiliar, even. He hadn’t seemed like the bright,
carefree Thomas she knew.
Perhaps something truly serious was happening on his end, and he had dropped everything just to come see Sharon before returning.
Wendy’s every thought was on Sharon. Though she found Thomas’s behavior odd, she didn’t dwell on it.
Sharon nodded and didn’t press further. “Wendy, you should get some rest. I want to sleep for a while.”
Wendy rose at once. “All right. If you need anything, remember to press the bell.”
Sharon murmured her agreement, then closed her eyes.
Only when the door clicked softly shut did tears slip silently from the corners of her eyes.
Julliard descended into the basement.
Lex was chained inside a cramped cell, ragged and filthy like a wild dog.
Julliard entered with a storm-dark face. His hand reached for a whip resting nearby. Without hesitation, he cracked it down across Lex’s body.
The whip whistled through the air before striking flesh. Lex instinctively raised an arm to block, but the lash split open his skin, leaving a long, bleeding welt.
But Julliard’s fury was far from spent. He lashed again and again, each strike harsher than the last, until Lex’s body was bloodied and raw. Only when his own rage had burned low did he finally stop. 1
By then, Lex’s face and body were covered in a grotesque lattice of wounds. Some had already scabbed over, leaving him disfigured.
Yet there was no fear in his expression. His gaze was sharp and feral, gleaming with cold light like a wolf in the dark.
Meeting that stare, Julliard sneered. “Still dreaming of how you’ll take revenge on me once you’re free?”
Lex said nothing, but his expression was answer enough. If he ever escaped, he would tear Julliard apart, limb by limb.
As if sensing his thoughts, Julliard gave a low laugh. “Lex, do you actually think you’ll be leaving here alive?”
Lex’s lips curled. “Don’t fool yourself, Julliard. You and Xavier think no one knows you’ve locked me up? Walls have ears. The moment I vanish for more than three days, your death sentence is sealed.”
Julliard’s voice dripped with scorn. “Before you spit threats, look at where you’re standing. Even if I die, I’ll drag you straight to hell with me.”
Lex let out a strange laugh. “So, the mighty Julliard turns out to be a love-struck fool. What a pity. You covet your best friend’s woman, but you’re too cowardly to confess. Even your revenge-you take it in secret, terrified she might discover it.
“You dress yourself up like a gentleman, but inside, you’re rotten to the core. Once Sharon sees your true face, do you think she’ll still accept you? No. She’ll only find you disgusting and push you away. 1

Chapter 944
“Julliard, you pathetic coward. You’ll never have her. She’ll never belong to you-ah!”
Before he could finish, Julliard’s boot crashed into his face, slamming him to the ground.
Lex writhed underfoot, humiliated yet unyielding. A twisted laugh rasped from his bloodied lips. “Julliard, you’ll always be a
loser.”
The only answer he received was another storm of lashes.
Julliard struck until Lex was left half-dead, his breath shallow, his body broken. Only then did Julliard stop.
