Chapter 943
Uriah let out a heavy sigh. “Very well.”
By right, news of Sharon’s condition should not be told to her first, but to her family.
But in this room, there was no family-only friends.
As for Carter… he was her ex-husband and could hardly be counted as family anymore.
To conceal the truth from Sharon under such circumstances would only be a form of disrespect.
“Fine,” Uriah said again, his voice weary.
His medical skill was beyond question. If he said something could be cured, then it could. If he said there was no hope, then there was little chance of recovery.
He looked at Sharon and spoke gravely. “Sharon, the most I can guarantee is that your hands will be restored to their original form. The bones will remain intact. You won’t feel pain on rainy days, and in daily life and work, no one will notice a thing, But….
He paused, breathing out another heavy sigh.
“The flexibility of your fingers will never return to what it once was. Playing music will be extremely difficult. Even painting will be affected. Especially… your left hand.”
It was her own left hand that Sharon had used to shatter her right. She had left herself some leeway-though her right hand was injured, it had not been rendered completely useless.
But her left hand had been crushed under Jamie’s heel. The damage was so severe it was nearly beyond repair. If Uriah himself were not performing the surgery, the hand would almost certainly be left with crippling aftereffects.
Wendy’s tears fell anew.
Sharon’s gift with the violin was unparalleled. Even someone like Harry, a renowned violinist, paled in comparison. She had surpassed Shayla in her prime.
She was born a musician.
And now, her future, the passion she had devoted her life to, was shattered. 1
This was worse than death.
Wendy instinctively turned to look at Sharon.
Sharon’s face had gone pale, her expression dazed for a moment. Yet she held herself steady, her emotions restrained.
She said to Uriah, “Thank you.”
Regret clouded his gaze as he looked at her. Such a pity. What a waste of talent.
“Your surgery must be scheduled as soon as possible,” he told her. “I’ll make the arrangements now. If everything goes smoothly, we’ll operate first thing tomorrow.”
The preparation required was extensive. Tomorrow was already the earliest it could be done.
After speaking, Uriah left the ward with another sigh. He could not bear to linger any longer.
Once he was gone, Sharon turned to the others. “You should go too. I’d like to speak with Wendy alone.”
Carter and the rest exchanged glances, then left without protest.

But Sharon cut her off. “Wendy, don’t blame yourself anymore. None of this was your fault. The one to blame is the murderer who did this to me, not another victim like you.”
She forced a faint smile, almost as if joking. “I am only worried I might not be able to take care of myself in the future.”
Wendy wept harder. “Then I’ll take care of you for the rest of my life!”
Sharon gently consoled her. “Enough. Don’t cry. You’re still recovering from nearly drowning. You need rest too.”
Wendy shook her head. “It’s fine. I’m not tired.”
Seeing the guilt weighing on her friend, Sharon no longer tried to send her away. Instead, she shifted the subject.
“By the way, where are Thomas and Julliard? Have they gone back?”
Wendy hesitated. “Julliard probably has some loose ends to deal with. As for Thomas…”
Her expression turned strange.
