Chapter 939

Chapter 939

“Jamie was afraid of being discovered, so he only brought a driver with him. I don’t know exactly where they went, but the car

was headed…”

Lex laid out everything he knew without holding back.

The level of cooperation made Xavier glance at him in surprise. Then he thought it through and found it unsurprising. After all, Lex and Jamie were hardly friends at all.

Julliard memorized every detail Lex provided, then ordered his men to follow up.

Just then, his phone rang.

“Mr. Macaron, we just got word—a woman resembling Sharon was rushed into the hospital for emergency treatment. She’s in the operating room now, but we can’t yet confirm if she’s the one you’re looking for…”

Julliard showed no flicker of joy.

He’d received far too many similar reports tonight.

“I understand,” he said coolly.

Xavier asked, “What is it? Did you hear something?”

Since Xavier had helped him by intercepting Lex, Julliard didn’t hide it.

“Wendy was pulled from the river under the overpass. She’s in the hospital now, still in critical condition. And just now, my men reported another woman-possibly Sharon-was also brought in and rushed into surgery. If you’re free, you should go check. I’ll handle things here.” í

But in his heart, Julliard didn’t believe it.

If Sharon had truly fallen into Jamie’s hands and was already injured, escape would have been near impossible.

Xavier gave him a long, measuring look. “Very well. I’ll leave this to you.”

Julliard still wanted to pry more from Lex. Xavier, however, intended to question Wendy himself-and verify whether the woman in the emergency room was indeed Sharon.

So he left Lex in Julliard’s hands. 1

At the hospital, Xavier first asked after Wendy’s condition.

She had survived emergency treatment, but remained unconscious. Judging by the situation, she would not wake anytime soon.

Xavier then moved on to the operating room where the suspected Sharon was being treated.

Her surgery was still ongoing.

He stood by the door, making calls and giving orders while waiting.

No one knew how much time passed before the operating room doors finally opened.

A doctor stepped out, surprise flashing across his face at the sight of Xavier waiting there. Then he asked, “You’re the patient’s family, aren’t you?

“The patient’s hands were severely damaged. One hand suffered catastrophic trauma-shattered bones and extensive nerve damage. Though we’ve reattached it for now, the prognosis is grim. She’ll need another surgery.

“The other hand is in far better condition, but still badly injured. Without proper orthopedic treatment, her daily work and quality of life may be permanently affected…”

Before Xavier could even process the words, the gurney was wheeled out.

His eyes swept over the unconscious figure, and his pupils contracted sharply.

“Sharon!”

By the time Thomas arrived at the hospital, nearly twenty hours had passed.

He had just received Xavier’s message with Sharon’s hospital address.

Morning light had already spilled across Listoria City.

As he reached the ward, a woman’s unrestrained sobs poured through the door.

Thomas’s chest tightened painfully, his steps faltering.

He found himself afraid-afraid to push open the door before him.
