Chapter 931
Jamie arched a brow. “Oh?”
Lex was no ordinary guy-he didn’t believe in coincidences. After exchanging a quick glance with Jamie, he connected the call.
“Mr. Ferrero. What can I do for you?”
Onboard a private jet, Thomas held a satellite phone.
“Tell Jamie to release Sharon immediately. If he doesn’t, the Ferrero family will declare war on the Walton family. To the death.”
Lex froze, instinctively glancing at Jamie.
“Mr. Ferrero, I’m not sure I understand what you mean…”
Before he could finish, Thomas’s cold voice cut him off. “I know you’re together. Put Jamie on.”
Lex hesitated but eventually handed the phone over. This was the head of the Ferrero family-how on earth did he know Sharon? And what exactly was their relationship?
Jamie took the phone from Lex’s hand.
“Mr. Ferrero. What can I do for you?”
“Let Sharon go,” Thomas said evenly. “Consider it a personal debt I’ll owe you.”
Jamie knew all too well that Johanna had set her sights on the Ferrero heir, even dreamed of marrying Thomas. Yet for reasons unknown, Thomas had hidden his identity and stayed by Sharon’s side. Judging from this call, things were far from simple.
Jamie almost laughed. A man like Thomas harboring unspoken desires for a divorced woman with a child? What spell did Sharon cast to enthrall him so?
He lowered his gaze to her pale face. Was her allure truly so great?
Still, he kept his tone smooth. “I’m not even in Zachemaine right now. Perhaps you’re mistaken?”
Thomas’s voice turned glacial. “Don’t play dumb. You know exactly what I mean.”
Jamie continued to deflect. “Mr. Ferrero, words require proof. You have none, and accusing me baselessly doesn’t reflect well on you, does it?” 1
But just then, a voice came faintly through the line.
“Mr. Ferrero, we’ve pinpointed the target’s location.”
Thomas gave a quiet “Mm,” then ended the call without another word.
Jamie stared at the disconnected phone, his expression darkening instantly. He had just been played.
On the jet, one of Thomas’s men shifted uneasily.
“Sir, will this really work? What if they don’t fall for it?”
From a plane, true satellite tracking was impossible. The so-called “location report” had been nothing but a bluff, meant to pressure Jamie into releasing Sharon. Even Thomas himself hadn’t been certain whether Lex and Jamie were together.
Before boarding, he’d ordered an investigation into Lex’s whereabouts. When he learned Lex had unexpectedly gone to Listoria City, Thomas decided to gamble on a lie.
The unexpected payoff? Confirmation. The two of them were indeed together.

“Jamie is suspicious by nature,” Thomas said coldly. “If I called Lex’s phone directly, he’d assume I’d discovered something. Even if doubts remain, he won’t risk gambling with this.”
His eyes gleamed with a predatory chill.
“And if he doesn’t run…” His voice dropped to a deadly murmur. “Then his death is already written.”
He turned to his men.
“Inform Xavier. Tell him to track Lex’s phone. Sharon should be with them.”
The distance between Leistre and Zachemaine was too great. No matter how desperate Thomas was, he couldn’t arrive immediately. He also knew Jamie wouldn’t kill Sharon outright.
But in Jamie’s hands, she would undoubtedly suffer.
