Chapter 924
Xavier studied Julliard’s face closely, as if trying to decide whether his words held truth or lies.
Julliard remained steadfast. He would never let Xavier read a crack in his composure.
In the end, Xavier found nothing from his expression.
Time was pressing. He didn’t waste it on circles or feints–he cut straight to the point.
“Julliard, Sharon disappeared here in Listoria City. You must know something. She trusts you. She’s always treated you as a good friend. I believe you wouldn’t want anything to happen to her, would you?”
For a fleeting second, Julliard faltered. But the moment passed; his calm mask slipped seamlessly back into place.
If he couldn’t find Sharon in Listoria City, Xavier had even less chance. And if Xavier really did succeed where he failed, wouldn’t that make him appear weak and useless?
Julliard said evenly, “It’s true, I hosted Sharon after she arrived in Listoria City. But some time ago, I was attacked and ended up in the hospital. I’ve been recovering since. I haven’t been in contact with her much.”
Then, as if something occurred to him, he turned his gaze on Xavier.
“By the way, if I recall correctly, haven’t you got your men to protect Sharon? Don’t your men know where she’s gone?”
A shadow crossed Xavier’s eyes.
When he’d received Thomas’s call back in Amstern City, his first instinct had been to reach out to those bodyguards.
But they too, had gone silent.
With even the bodyguards missing, the odds of Sharon being abducted–or worse–had risen sharply.
Xavier’s voice lowered, steady but grim. “Julliard, Sharon’s disappearance is no small matter. From what I’ve heard, she may have offended Jamie. If he’s the one who took her, then she’s in grave danger. Right now, I hope we can set aside our grudges and focus on Sharon’s safety.”
After a pause that lasted only a breath, Julliard replied, “It’s true, Sharon disappeared under my watch. That is my failure. But I genuinely don’t know where she is. I only realized she was missing after receiving Thomas’s call not long ago.
“Strange, isn’t it? Even I didn’t know Sharon had vanished–so how did a bodyguard on leave discover it first? I’ve already dispatched men to search for her. If I learn anything, you’ll be the first to know.”
At that, Xavier knew Julliard wouldn’t give him another inch.
There was no point wasting more time here. He fixed Julliard with a long, heavy stare.
“Julliard, if Sharon suffers because of your selfishness, I will never forgive you.”

Yet he also knew, without evidence, there was nothing he could do.
Xavier dropped the matter. Turning on his heel, he left.

Back in the car, his eyes darkened. He told his assistant, “Put a tail on Julliard. Discreetly. The moment he makes a suspicious move, report to me at once.”
“Yes, Mr. Cooper.”
Wendy awoke just in time to see Shaluna being destroyed.
The sight froze her in shock. She tried to shout, to stop it—but it was already too late.
Her gaze whipped toward Sharon, eyes red, struggling furiously in the grip of bodyguards who held her down.
Then she looked again–at the man standing nearby, tall and composed, his eyes cast down at Sharon as if from a height.
She had never seen him before, but recognition struck instantly.
“Jamie!”
The guy they had been hiding from all this time had finally gotten to them!
At the sound of her voice, Jamie turned his head toward her.
“Wendy, you’re awake.”
His face was devoid of emotion, but his eyes were cold enough to chill the blood. 1
Unlike with Sharon, he spared Wendy no trace of feigned gentleness.
