Ignoring his injuries, Julliard began searching personally.

But Jamie’s counter–surveillance skills were terrifyingly sharp. Since leaving the hospital, he hadn’t left behind a single trace. 

A gnawing unease began to creep into Julliard’s chest. 

It had already been more than four hours since Sharon disappeared. 

From the moment her absence was confirmed, Listoria City had been locked down–no one allowed out, only in. 

There was no way Jamie could have smuggled Sharon and Wendy beyond the city’s borders. 

It was only a matter of time before they were found. 

Yet despite this assurance, Julliard’s restlessness refused to subside. 

For Jamie to abduct Sharon right under his nose was nothing less than contempt–silent, calculated provocation. 

He stared out at the night, his reflection in the car window revealing a face carved from stone. But in the depths of his eyes, a glint of icy venom flickered. 

If he found Jamie, he would never allow him to leave alive. 2 

The driver ferried him across the city, checking every suspicious location. 

But Julliard’s injuries were catching up with him. His stamina was waning. He leaned against the back seat— and at some point, sleep claimed him. 

He didn’t know how long he had dozed before a sudden jolt of hard braking snapped him awake. 

His eyes shot open, his voice cold. “What happened?” 

The driver stammered, voice trembling, “M–Mr. Macaron… several cars have surrounded us…” 

In Listoria City, few dared block Julliard’s path. He might have been known for his calm demeanor, but he was far from a pushover. 

His brows knitted into a tight frown as he pushed the car door open. 

The driver rushed to stop him. “Mr. Macaron, you’re still injured–if these men mean you harm-” 

But before he could finish, Julliard had already stepped out, because he’d seen the tall, familiar figure emerging from one of the cars not far away. 

He knew that man. Xavier. 

“To what do I owe the honor of you stopping my car in the middle of the night, Xavier?”

Xavier’s gaze locked onto him. “Where are Sharon and Wendy?” 

Julliard’s mind turned swiftly before he answered, evenly, “I don’t know. I’m looking for them myself.” 

Xavier arched a brow. “You’re looking for Sharon too?” 

“Yes,” Julliard said without hesitation. “Not long ago, Thomas called me–he said Sharon was unreachable. I sent men to her hotel, but neither she nor Wendy were there. I’ve been searching for them ever since.” 

In truth, after his earlier “heroic rescue,” Julliard had worried Carter might discover something once he regained consciousness. So he had deliberately erased every trace of Sharon and Wendy’s recent movements. 

That included the three days they’d stayed at his home–strictly ordered into silence. 

It wasn’t difficult. Sharon and Wendy had rarely left their hotel before, wary of Jamie’s threats. 

And in Listoria City, if Julliard wished to conceal their tracks, it required no effort at all. 

As for Xavier’s bodyguards, they had been neutralized early on, silenced before they could relay a single report. 

The “new” protectors who had appeared at Sharon’s side afterward? They were all his men. 

From Wendy’s lips, he had learned that Xavier’s bodyguards only obeyed Sharon’s instructions. They would never report her every move back to Xavier–it would have been no different from placing her under surveillance. 1 

Unless something truly dire happened, they had no reason to call for Xavier’s support. 

Wendy had even remarked back then, half in admiration, that Xavier was considerate, respecting boundaries rather than hovering. 

That consideration had been exactly the opening Julliard needed. 

So from the very first day Sharon set foot in Listoria City, those bodyguards had already been replaced–by him.
