Chapter 903

Long before the international competition even began, Carter had already sent Theo so-called “private training.”

But everyone knew that was just an excuse. In truth, it was a way to keep Theo hidden and tightly protected.

Jamie gave a cold laugh. “As expected. To bring Victoria down, they had prepared everything in advance.” a

Lex sighed. “Jamie, Victoria is fond of that boy. If you really use him as leverage, she’ll blame you.”

For all his schemes, Lex hadn’t sunk so low as to target a child. Growing up in the Malcolm household under Uriah’s influence had left him with at least a shred of decency. 2

Jamie said nothing for a while. Then, at last, he murmured, “Since Victoria likes him, forget it. We’ll think of another way.”

And with that, he ended the call.

When Sharon stepped out of the Kalen residence, the sun was at its peak, blazing so bright it made her vision swim.

She couldn’t tell if it was the heat or the turmoil in her chest, but as she descended the steps, her steps faltered, her balance nearly giving way.

Carter’s hand shot out, steadying her.

“Sharon.” His voice was low, carrying a note of concern as his eyes searched her face. “Are you all right?”

After Jamie’s departure, neither of them had lingered long at the Kalen estate.

Carter’s earlier words had already shaken Richard and Rick. And since even a gun pointed at Sharon hadn’t forced her to confess, the Kalen family believed her all the more.

Ironically, Jamie’s reckless move had cleared her of suspicion.

Sharon’s lashes trembled as she lifted her gaze to Carter.

Suddenly, she gripped his wrist with desperate strength, her hold almost frantic.

“Carter, you must protect Theo. Don’t let him fall into Jamie’s hands!”

From Jamie, she had felt a danger unlike anything before-a threat that clawed straight into

her bones.

“Sharon, don’t worry. I’ve already hidden Theo away securely. Nothing will happen to him.”

His brows drew tight, sharp lines of coldness shadowing his expression. He had never dealt with Jamie before, yet what he had witnessed today was enough to chill him.

“A guy like Jamie won’t back down so easily. Still, as long as you haven’t cut ties with the Kalen family, even if he wants to move against you, he won’t dare take it too far.”

There was something else he didn’t say aloud-Jamie would likely come after him as well.

By standing openly at Sharon’s side, Carter had declared his allegiance. That made him a target, too.

Perhaps he couldn’t draw all of Jamie’s malice away from her, but he could bear some of it. When Jamie couldn’t easily strike at Sharon, he would turn to him first.

Sharon’s shoulders finally loosened at his words.

“That’s good.” She slowly released his wrist. “Thank you… for today.”

“No need to thank me.” Seeing how drained she looked, Carter said gently, “Let me take you home to rest.”

He longed to invite her to share a meal, but he could tell she had no appetite for it now.

Sharon nodded, weary but compliant. “Thank you.”

Three days later, Sharon’s phone rang.

It was Simon, Carter’s assistant.

“Sharon, something has happened to Mr. Biggs.”
