Chapter 894

While Silas and Scott suffered relentless ridicule, Richard fared no better.

Though he remained in Zachemaine and no one confronted him face-to-face, his phone had not stopped ringing for days.

Some callers demanded to know if the rumors online were true.

Some laughed, teasing that his romantic exploits hadn’t dulled with age.

Others marveled at how well he had hidden the truth all these years.

The voices varied, but the intent was the same-most wanted to watch him squirm.

Enraged, Richard finally shut his phone off altogether.

The Kalen family had become a circus act in a public zoo, mocked and dissected at will.

Casting a glance at Rick, who looked equally grim, Richard demanded, “When is Sharon coming back?”

Rick checked the time. “Her flight should be landing soon. She’ll be here any minute.”

Knowing the truth at last, Sharon eventually answered Rick’s call. She understood well enough: running away would not solve anything.

This scandal had grown too large. If she failed to appear, silence would be taken as an admission of guilt.

During the competition’s break, she boarded a plane back to Amstern City.

On the way, she murmured to Wendy, “I thought this was the beginning of my career’s peak. Who would’ve guessed I’d fall into such misfortune, taking the blame for things I never did?” 2

Wendy lowered her head, guilt heavy in her eyes. “Sharon, I’m sorry. Last time, I shouldn’t have spoken out.”

She had seen the viral clip of herself snapping back at those three girls, exposing Victoria as an illegitimate child.

Now she feared her outburst had landed Sharon in this disaster.

It was no wonder Sharon had held her tongue back then-had she lashed out, the world would have seized on her words like sharks scenting blood.

Sharon was a public figure. Every word, every move required caution. Those around her had even less right to speak carelessly.

At first, when Victoria’s scandal broke, Wendy had felt a moment’s satisfaction. But that fleeting pleasure quickly soured into dread.

This incident touched the Kalen family’s bottom line.

Even Wendy, who could hardly stand the sight of Victoria, had never once suggested exposing

her.

They simply weren’t ready. They had neither the power nor the leverage to contend with the

Kalens.

And Victoria-she had far too many powerful admirers.

Those men would never let Sharon off the hook.

Wendy remembered all too clearly: Sharon hadn’t even done anything to Victoria before, and Lex had nearly run her down with a car.

This time… she dared not finish the thought.

Sharon’s voice cut through her spiraling worry. “This has nothing to do with you. Someone intentionally released the news. Otherwise, your words online would’ve made no waves.”

Wendy frowned. “But who? I already asked John. It wasn’t him. I even asked Xavier, and he said it wasn’t him either. Could it be… Carter?”

The two of them walked side by side through the terminal, luggage in tow, discussing the

matter.

Just as Sharon opened her mouth to reply, a tall, striking figure stepped into their path.

His voice carried both restraint and urgency. “Sharon.”

Sharon looked up, startled. “Carter? What are you doing here?”

His gaze softened as he spoke in a low voice. “I was worried someone might harm you, so I came to pick you up.”

Before she could respond, he added, “I heard Jamie Walton has already arrived in Listoria City.

Sharon’s brows lifted slightly. “Jamie Walton?”

Carter gave a grave nod. “He is one of Victoria’s most fanatical admirers. It was for her that he seized his current position, his hands stained with more blood than anyone dares count.

“Word has it, anyone who so much as crossed Victoria met with his brutal revenge. His methods are so ruthless, people call him Bloody Beelzebub. Whenever he acts, there is always blood.”

He paused awhile, meeting her gaze squarely.

“This time, he will almost certainly blame you. He might come after you. For now, you must not leave the country.”
