Chapter 887
A shadow of worry crossed Cole’s brow.
“Jamie is like a mad dog. If we let him get involved, who knows what chaos might follow.”
Jamie had clawed his way from an overlooked illegitimate son to the head of the Walton family. His methods were ruthless-so ruthless that even a man like Cole felt uneasy hearing
about them.
Lex’s voice remained cool and measured. “Whoever did this clearly came prepared. The story can’t be suppressed-in fact, it’s spreading faster than ever. Neither our family nor the Kalen family can contain it now. If this continues, Victoria will be finished. We should enlist Jamie and help Victoria weather this storm.”
Cole hesitated. “But Jamie’s methods are too brutal…”
Cole had guile, but nothing like Lex’s coldness. To him, Sharon being attacked online and then striking back was almost understandable-he, Damien, and even Lex had all suffered from Sharon’s ruthless retaliation before. He knew she would respond viciously when wronged.
Though he sympathized with Victoria, the feud between Sharon and Victoria felt like sisterly warfare, not something to drag Jamie-a bloodsoaked executioner-into. That could blow the whole situation wide open.
At that moment, a doctor in a white coat rushed up to them, out of breath.
“Mr. Malcolm! News about Victoria being hospitalized has leaked-reporters have already crowded outside the hospital. There are too many of them; security can’t hold them back. They’re trying to push inside right now!”
They had called the police, but the officers would take time. Meanwhile, the mob was already surging.
Lex’s expression changed, and, like the leader he was, he acted at once.
“I’ll pay 100,000 dollars. Find a nurse who resembles Victoria and stall for three minutes.”
The doctor’s eyes lit up. “I’ll do it right away.” He sprinted off.
Lex turned to Cole. “Get the cars ready. We’ll leave through the back.”
Cole nodded immediately. “On it.”
Under Lex’s efficient direction, they managed to move Victoria out through the rear without a catastrophe. The ride was rough; maybe it jolted her back. Victoria finally stirred and opened her eyes to see Cole carrying her.

“Cole?” For a moment, she looked bewildered. “Did something happen?”
She had barely finished speaking when something flew toward them. Victoria, still coming to,
didn’t react in time.
A viscous, reeking splash of raw egg hit her squarely, plastering her hair and face. Victoria nearly blacked out again from the shock.
“Who-?!” Lex and Damien looked up and saw the scene outside the back gate: an enraged mob, faces twisted with self-righteous fury.
“You shameless illegitimate child! You stole twenty years of Sharon’s life. How can you live with yourself?!” a
“I liked you once, but you tricked us all!”
“Everyone, let’s teach her a lesson and avenge Sharon!”
The crowd had gone mad. They hurled rotten eggs, foul tomatoes, and bottles of water at
Victoria.
From the rooftop of a nearby high-rise, Julliard lowered his binoculars and allowed a satisfied, cold smile to touch his lips. Anyone who dared to bully Sharon would pay a price.
