Chapter 874
Before the international competition, Wendy stopped by Thomas’s home, only to find it
empty.
She relayed the news to Sharon.
“Sharon, I knocked for ages, but no one answered. It looks like Thomas hasn’t been home at all. Do you think he might have left without saying goodbye? I even asked the security guard- he said Thomas left early the day before yesterday and never came back.”
Wendy had wanted to persuade him to stay. She never imagined he would vanish so abruptly.
Sharon frowned. “He only just regained his memory. There must be a lot he needs to take care of, that’s probably why he left in such a hurry. Knowing Thomas, he wouldn’t disappear without a word.”
Their time with him these past days had been unexpectedly pleasant. Though Wendy wanted him to stay, she wouldn’t force it.
“I just… don’t want him to leave like this,” Wendy murmured.
No sooner had the words fallen than Sharon’s phone rang.
She glanced at the caller ID, her eyes flickering with surprise. It was Thomas.
She answered.
“Sharon.” His voice came through, low and weary. “I’m sorry. Something came up back home. I need to return and take care of it.”
Through the receiver, Sharon could hear chaos in the background-raised voices, the sound of an argument.
“It’s fine,” she reassured him. “Take care of what you need to. I told you before-you deserve a break.”
Relief loosened the knot in her chest. She hadn’t realized until now that she, like Wendy, had been worried he might vanish without a word.
Just as she was about to hang up, his voice stopped her. “Sharon.”
She hesitated. “What is it?”
“Wait for me to come back.”
Her breath caught.
The next second, a furious roar exploded through the phone. “Thomas, I’ll kill you—!”

Beep… beep… beep…
The line went dead.
Sharon stared at the darkened screen for a long moment before she came back to herself.
“Was that Thomas?” Wendy asked.
She nodded. “Mhm. He said he has something to deal with back home.”
Wendy’s expression tightened. “He wasn’t saying goodbye, was he? He’s not planning to leave for good?”
Sharon smiled faintly. “No. Thomas will come back. He just has things to handle right now.”
Wendy exhaled in relief, about to say more when a knock sounded at the studio door.
She went to answer it, only to find Carter standing there.
Her face darkened at once. “What are you doing here?”
“I came to see Sharon.”
“You’re not welcome-”
Before she could finish, he added, “And to let her know that the culprit who threw acid at Victoria has almost been identified.”
The rest of Wendy’s words lodged in her throat.
From inside, Sharon’s voice carried out calmly. “Wendy, let him in.”
When Carter stepped into the room, Sharon noticed he carried a bouquet of baby’s breath.
Before she could comment, he spoke. “Theo knows you like baby’s breath. He asked me to bring it to you.”
At the mention of Theo, Sharon found it hard to turn him away. She wouldn’t argue over a bouquet.
She got straight to the point. “Who threw the acid at Victoria?”
“Most likely, Kelly,” Carter replied.
He had already learned the details from Theo, who had heard about it from Victoria.
Sharon’s brows arched. “Kelly?”
His voice dropped, cold and flat. “From the surveillance footage, it looks like Kelly was targeting Johanna. Victoria just happened to be in the way.”
