Chapter 839
Rick wasn’t shameless enough to push that far. Still, if Sharon stepped into the company with the backing of the company veterans… things could shift.
His thoughts were cut short by Sharon’s voice.
“That won’t be necessary. Since I’m returning to the Kalen family, I will be part of the Kalen family. I’ll
shoulder the risks that come with it.”
Rick hadn’t expected her to be so obstinate.
“Sharon, I’m doing this for your sake. And we’re not taking your shares for free. It’s an equal exchange. There’s
no difference between original shares and common shares.”
Sharon’s lips curved into a light smile.
“If there’s truly no difference, then why insist on making the change? If you dislike holding original shares, I
could always purchase them from you myself.”
Her words stunned him into a disbelieving laugh.
“You? Buy out my shares? With what?”
But Sharon didn’t flare up at his mockery. Her tone remained calm.
“Rick, don’t worry. Even between siblings, accounts must be clear. I’ll never owe you. I’ll give you money for
your shares.”
Rick opened his mouth to retort, then faltered. A sharp thought struck him-if he truly wanted to sell, perhaps
she could afford to buy.
She had many backers. Xavier. Uriah. Soon, John would return to the Westin family. And then there was Carter,
who lived in constant guilt toward her…
Her network was no longer negligible.
For the first time, Rick realized the sister standing before him was no longer the timid, helpless girl who had first entered the Kalen household years ago.
At that moment, Richard broke in with genial laughter, smoothing over the tension.

“All right, enough. We’ll discuss the details another time. For now, it’s enough that Sharon is willing to come
home.”
He seemed not to care about the original shares at all, intent only on his daughter’s return. 1
But Rick heard the message beneath his father’s words. As long as Sharon acknowledged the Kalen family, those shares would be considered their family’s matter. Behind closed doors, even Uriah and her other allies
would have no right to interfere.
A woman like Sharon, holding something as vital as original shares, was nothing more than a child clutching a golden mountain. She could never protect it for long. When the schemes began, she would learn soon enough
that those shares were nothing but a burning coal in her hands.
With that comforting thought, Rick’s expression softened. 1
“Alright.”
Sharon’s gaze shifted between them.
“Then, will you cooperate with the procedures for my identity change?”
“I’ll have my assistant handle it immediately,” Richard promised with a benevolent smile.
Sharon nodded. “I still need to practice violin. If there’s nothing else, I’ll take my leave.”
“Remember to come back whenever you have time,” Richard said warmly, still playing the doting father.
As Sharon descended the stairs, her eyes caught a sight that gave her pause.
Thomas was seated across from Johanna, the two of them sharing tea as though in easy, lively conversation.
Surprise flickered across her features. Johanna-like Victoria-was notoriously aloof, the kind of woman who
held herself above most company. Yet here she was, chatting with Thomas as though they were old friends.
Sharon’s gaze lingered on him, thoughtful. “Thomas, it’s time we left.”
He rose at once, his manner gentler now than it had been earlier. “Johanna, until next time.”
Johanna smiled as she bid him farewell.
Once outside the Kalen residence, Sharon noticed a subtle change. Thomas’s mood seemed lighter than usual,

his lips curving faintly, dark eyes alight with a rare vitality.
She couldn’t help asking, “Something good happen?”
For a heartbeat, his gaze turned fathomless, dark as ink.
“Yes. I discovered something… very interesting.”
