Chapter 835

Sharon said, “Testimonies alone don’t count as evidence. As long as Carter refuses to admit it, no one can touch

him. The brakes on Thomas’s car were tampered with, but the only one missing is that mechanic. Nothing links

it back to Carter.”

Her gaze shifted toward Thomas, carrying a trace of apology. “I’m sorry, Thomas. I’m afraid I can’t win you justice this time.”

It wasn’t that she lacked resolve, but without concrete proof, Carter remained untouchable.

Thomas’s voice was calm. “Carter holds immense power. He leaves no loose ends. For people like us, it’s nearly

impossible to fight him. It’s fine. I’ll just be more cautious from now on.”

The more magnanimous he appeared, the heavier Sharon’s guilt weighed.

“I promised you once that I would get justice for you… and now I’ve broken my word so quickly.”

For the first time, Sharon felt fully the cruel weight of reality-how fragile fairness and justice were when crushed under the heel of wealth and power.

John, who had been silent until now, suddenly spoke. “Sharon, once I return to my family, I’ll make sure you

get justice.”

Sharon smiled and nodded.

They talked a little longer before John excused himself.

Not long after, a headline flashed across the news: Kelly had been formally arrested.

Sharon’s expression didn’t flicker in the slightest.

Filth like Kelly no longer stirred even the faintest ripple in her heart. She couldn’t even summon the desire to

retaliate. Handing Kelly over to the police and letting her rot under the weight of the law-that was the best

ending.

When matters on her side were settled, Sharon received a call from Rick.

“Sharon, your competition is over now, isn’t it? You shouldn’t be too busy. Dad has something he wishes to discuss with you.” 1

During her competition, Rick had already called her several times, and she had brushed him off each time with

the excuse of being occupied. Yet now, he was calling again.

At first, Sharon couldn’t fathom why the Kalen family clung so persistently to a daughter they had already cast out. Only after learning about the original shares did she finally understand.

No wonder Richard had been so generous with Theo-offering him equity right away.

Realization crystallized.

She lifted the phone back to her ear. “All right. I’m free today.”

These matters had to be faced sooner or later. And besides, she had no intention of giving up her shares. Who

knew, perhaps one day she would work in Kalen Group.

Hearing her agreement, Rick’s taut voice softened.

“Dad and I are at home. Come anytime.”

After hanging up, Sharon told Wendy she was heading to the Kalen household.

Wendy frowned slightly. “This is Amstern City, so they may not dare act rashly. Still, to be safe, let Thomas go

with you. If anything happens, he can look out for you.”

Sharon didn’t refuse. “Alright.”

The two drove together toward the Kalen residence.

As soon as they entered the living room, Sharon spotted Victoria and Johanna seated with tea in hand.

Victoria rose at once, her smile warm. “Sharon, you’re here.”

Sharon nodded.

“Dad and Rick are upstairs,” Victoria said. “I’ll take you up.”

Her eyes then shifted to Thomas, her smile polite. “Thomas, would you mind waiting downstairs for a while?”

Thomas didn’t answer. His gaze slid toward Sharon.

It wasn’t convenient for her to bring him along to private Kalen family discussions. Sharon gave a small nod.

After she followed Victoria upstairs, Johanna smiled and gestured. “Thomas, please, sit here.’

Thomas took the seat across from her.

As his eyes swept the room, they caught on a glint of silver-an earring he recognized all too well.
