Chapter 834
“Whoever makes the claim must provide the proof,” Sharon said firmly.
Carter was a man of few words, never skilled at arguing. Faced with this pile of so-called evidence, he found
himself unable to refute it.
At last, he said, “I’ll find the evidence and prove this wasn’t my doing.”
With that, he turned and walked away.
Only then did it hit him: in Sharon’s eyes, he had fallen so low, so utterly beyond redemption.
He had always believed that as long as Theo was there, as long as he sincerely admitted his mistakes, Sharon would eventually take him back. But now he realized-he had been far too confident.
Stepping out of the studio, he suddenly asked Simon, “In the past… was I truly that cruel to Sharon?”
Simon froze, caught off guard, unsure how to answer. After a moment’s thought, he chose his words carefully.
“Back then, Mr. Biggs, whenever Sharon needed you most, you were nowhere to be found. It left the impression that her husband was dispensable. If having a partner feels no different from being alone… then what’s the point of that partner’s existence?”
He studied Carter’s expression, saw no trace of anger, and continued.
“Before Miss Walt returned, it wasn’t as obvious. Everyone knew you were genuinely busy. But once Miss Walt came back, you somehow had time to take her to the hospital, yet never time for your wife or son. The
contrast… was sharp. Painfully so.”
Carter blurted, almost defensively, “I thought Kelly had a terminal illness, so I—”
Simon sighed.
“Mr. Biggs, having a terminal illness doesn’t grant someone the right to do whatever they please. And you-
He stopped himself before the harsher words could spill out. After a pause, he said instead, “Miss Walt deliberately ran into Sharon with her car, yet faced no punishment. Tell me, how would she see it? Wouldn’t she believe that even if she killed Sharon, as long as she cried afterward, you would let it go? After all, what’s the point of holding a dying woman accountable, right?”

Carter fell silent.
Yes. Everything was his fault. His indulgence. He had spoiled Kelly and Nate far too much.
And when he remembered how he had once treated Sharon-choosing to believe a fraud like Kelly over his own wife-regret twisted like a blade in his chest.
He asked hoarsely, “If I try to make it up to her… will she ever forgive me?”
Simon hesitated. The truth was grim: Mr. Biggs had left himself with almost no room to turn back.
If Sharon couldn’t endure it back when Kelly was supposedly dying, how could she now, after all the lies had
been stripped bare?
Especially that wedding…
No woman could possibly forgive watching her husband walk into the marriage hall with another woman.
If not for Theo, Sharon would have divorced long ago.
But that was something Simon dared not say aloud. Instead, he offered cautiously, “As long as you show Sharon your sincerity, I believe… she can forgive you. But whether she’ll remarry you… That’s another matter entirely.”
Carter’s thoughts shifted. “Has Kelly been taken into custody?”
Simon nodded. “All the evidence has been submitted. The police issued the arrest warrant this morning.”
Now, whenever Carter thought of Kelly, disgust rose in him. He didn’t even want to hear her name again.
He gave a slight nod and asked nothing more.
After Carter left, the three women also departed.
John turned to Sharon.
“Sharon, since those three testified against Carter, why not report him to the police and let them arrest him?”
