Chapter 833

“To avoid leaving any trace,” the CEO said evenly, “Mr. Biggs always called through his assistant’s phone. I

used that phone to speak with him directly. Whenever he had instructions, he would send the assistant to me,

and we’d connect that way. That’s why there’s no record of contact between us.”

She paused a while, then continued, “As for the fabricated evidence, that was all stored on the USB drives

brought by his assistant. There were no call logs, no chat records. Mr. Biggs promised me benefits once the

matter was done, but even beforehand, to secure my cooperation, he arranged several lucrative contracts for

my family’s company.

“If you doubt me, Sharon, you’re welcome to verify it yourself. Not long ago, our company won a Biggs Group

bid.”

It was true that smaller collaborations within the Biggs Group often went through formal bidding processes.

Carter himself rarely handled such matters. And the woman standing before him—her name, her company—

meant nothing to him. He had no memory of them at all.

Carter glanced toward Simon. Simon quickly explained, “This young lady’s company did, indeed, secure a Biggs

Group contract recently. But the process was completely aboveboard, a routine bidding cycle. That alone can’t

prove it was a ‘favor’ from us.”

Bids were decided by multiple factors-price alone never guaranteed success. This talk of so-called “benefits”

was nothing more than nonsense.

The heiress and the socialite chimed in next.

“Our arrangements were much the same,” the heiress admitted. “We left behind no evidence either. But as for

benefits… we weren’t nearly so fortunate. Mr. Biggs painted us promises instead. He said once the job was done,

then we’d see the rewards.

“We were cornered-threats, pressure from every side. Our families were staring down bankruptcy. What

choice did we have but to agree?”

At that, John finally saw through the web of contradictions. A cold laugh escaped his lips. 1

“So it really was coercion.”

Carter fell silent.

“No matter what I say, they’ll always have a rebuttal. Yet not one of them can produce actual proof. If I truly did orchestrate this, you could have gone straight to the police.”

Sharon’s red lips curved into a faint, icy smile.

“That only proves you’re meticulous, flawless enough to leave no cracks behind.”

Carter’s gaze locked onto her.

“What will it take for you to believe me?” 2

The words hung in the air. Both of them froze.

That question sounded so familiar. Once, it had been hers. Now the wheel had turned.

He opened his mouth, but the words caught in his throat. Suddenly, a thought struck him: was this how Sharon had felt back then, when Kelly framed her? Angry, helpless, wounded by mistrust? 1

Sharon was the first to recover. Her tone was cool and detached.

“Carter, I believe only in facts and evidence.”

His dark eyes clouded. “And if I truly am innocent?”

Her expression did not shift. “Even if you are, I won’t feel the slightest guilt or regret. After all, back then, Kelly only had to shed a few tears, and you rushed to take her side, without so much as an investigation.

“At least I’m different. I did investigate. I even brought the accusers before you, face to face, so you could

confront them yourself. 1

“As for whether you’re being wronged…”
