The scheme to intercept and steal Sharon’s company’s orders had, of course, been carried out in secret. 

Sharon knew what was happening, but outsiders remained unaware. And Silas wasn’t foolish enough to make such a thing public. 

Rubbing his weary temples, Rick said tiredly, “Dad and I heard rumors that Sharon’s company had run into trouble. We thought it was her competitors who did it.” 

A tall tree catches the wind. 

With her growing influence–acquiring equity, holding founding shares–it was only natural that she drew envy and resentment from many. Rick had long known that sooner or later, trouble would come knocking at her door. 

So when he saw the headlines, he wasn’t surprised. Nor did he feel any inclination to help her. After all, this was part of her trial–a test she had to endure on her own. 

What Rick hadn’t expected, however, was that the person fighting her… would be Silas. 

Scott frowned. “Rick, we can’t just let Silas’s company go under like this. Isn’t there any way to save it? Or perhaps…” He hesitated briefly. “We could make Sharon spit out everything she’s swallowed.” 

Rick shot him a sidelong glance. “If you’d taken advantage of someone that much, would you be willing to spit it out?” 

Sometimes, Rick truly found his two younger brothers hopelessly naïve. 

On one hand, they were convinced Sharon had returned to the Kalen family with ulterior motives. On the other hand, they spoke as if it were only natural to demand that she hand over her gains. 

Scott said coldly, “Rick, Silas’s company didn’t collapse on its own. Someone’s been targeting him from the start. Judging by the timing, Sharon must’ve begun laying her plans the moment she came back to the Kalen family. Otherwise, even if Silas had taken the bait and leaked classified information, the downfall couldn’t have come this fast.” 

He paused, his gaze turning sharp and deep. 

“She’s new to the business world. There’s no way she could’ve pulled this off alone. I suspect someone’s helping her from the shadows. The mastermind is likely the one who gave her money to buy the Silverstone Group’s stocks.” 

Scott’s instincts were rarely wrong. 

Silas, standing to the side, frowned. “Could it be Xavier or Carter working with Sharon?” 

Scott shook his head. “I wouldn’t rule it out, but it doesn’t feel like them. The style of this operation–it’s far too insidious. Pretending to fall into our trap, feeding Sharon false signals, even planting decoy files to lead us 

astray and make fools of us all. That kind of ruthlessness doesn’t match Xavier or Carter.” 

Rick’s eyes flickered. “And why are you so sure this wasn’t Sharon’s own doing?”

This time, Silas couldn’t hold back. “Dors Sharon even have the brains for that?” 

Rick ignored him and turned to Scott instead. He’d already given up on Silas. 

Scott replied, “It’s not that Sharon lacks intelligence. She just isn’t that devious.” 

Schemes this venomous didn’t come naturally to most people. Just as the Kalen brothers could never have imagined the cruel methods of someone like Jamle. 

Silas sighed. “At this point, finding out who’s behind it won’t change anything. Rick, you have to ask Dad to help me. If my company goes down, I’ll lose all say in the Kalen Group.” 

But Rick merely shook his head. “Silas, you started this. Even Dad won’t be able to save you now. Victory belongs to the strong there’s nothing more to discuss. Unless Sharon has lost her mind, she’ll never give up such a massive advantage. And besides…”
