Chapter 1145 

“Any random stray off the street can stroll through my company now, and you tell me there’s nothing you can do?!” Silas’s voice rose to a roar, the veins in his neck bulging. 

“Even if you can’t beat that hacker, you could at least patch up the company’s damn security network! I paid you 20 million! Was that all for nothing?!” 

Silence lingered on the other end before Q finally spoke, voice filtered and emotionless. 

“I’ll return the 20 million to your account.” 1 

Silas’s fury only deepened. 

“What good will that do?! Can that money bring my company back from the dead?!” he bellowed. “If you hadn’t told me you’d uncovered Sharon’s top–secret files, would my company be in ruins now? Now you want to wash your hands of it? Don’t even think about it!” 

A chill entered Q’s tone. “Mr. Kalen, I’m a hacker, not a businessman. I delivered what I found, as promised. It was your job to verify the authenticity and decide how to act. You can’t pin the consequences of your own decisions on me. 

“The fact that your company fell apart overnight suggests the problem began months ago. Do you take me for someone who doesn’t understand basic business logic?” 

Silas’s grip on the phone tightened until his knuckles went white. Rage burned in his chest, but he couldn’t force a single word past his throat. 

Q’s tone softened slightly. “Of course, I’ll admit, I was outmatched. I didn’t detect the trap in time. I’ll do what I can to repair your security network and trace the other party’s location. I can’t promise results, but I’ll try.” 

At this point, Q was Silas’s last lifeline. Silas’s tone grudgingly eased. “1… apologize. I was too agitated just now.” 

“Understandable,” Qreplied coolly. “I’ll be in touch if there’s any progress.” 

When the call ended, Q lowered the phone and gazed out at the clear, endless sky. Q’s reflection merged with that of a woman standing by the floor–to–ceiling window–a vision of quiet grace. 

Her skin was pale as porcelain, her air refined and faintly perfumed like orchids. Her features were delicately sculpted, her eyes luminous and alive, catching light like twin gems. The wind stirred her long, dark hair as she stood there in thoughtful silence. 

After a moment, she seemed to remember something and dialed a number. 

A lazy male voice answered, teasing, “Well, well–has the sun risen in the west today? The great hacker Q calling me?” 

“I have a question for you,” Qsaid evenly. 

“Tch,” 

the man–T–snorted. “You’ve got some nerve, I still haven’t settled scores with you for attacking my client’s system. Ever heard of professional courtesy? You tore through their firewall so viciously I couldn’t even show my face for a week.”

Q was silent for a beat before png, “I’ll make you a promise. Unless absolutely necessary, I won’t target your clients again.” 

T whistled, half amused, half intrigued. “Well, now. For you to offer such a tempting deal–what could possibly be worth it?” 

Qrecounted the entire incident, sparing no detail. 

When he finished, T fell silent, thinking. Then he said slowly, “The person you’re talking about–I’ve heard of them, yes, though never met or crossed paths. The stories sounded exaggerated, so I didn’t pay them much mind… Wait, don’t tell me you actually went up against this person?” 

“I did,” Qanswered. 

Thesitated, curiosity piqued. “And? Were they as good as the rumors say?” 

There was a long pause. Then Q said, “Better. Much better.”
