That was when Thomas suddenly proposed, “Why not create a decoy project — a false proposal? If we can make Silas take the bait, he’ll suffer a major setback. Once he’s too busy cleaning up his own mess, he won’t have time to come after us.” 

Sharon had thought of this before. 

But to make someone like Silas believe such bait? That was easier said than done. 

“He’s not a fool,” she said. “A sudden new proposal will definitely make him suspicious.” 

Thomas’s lips curved in quiet confidence. “Don’t worry. I’ll take care of it.” 

Just then, Sharon’s phone rang. 

Enzo’s tense voice came through the line. 

“Miss McKinzie, you’re trending on the news.” 

Sharon’s brows furrowed slightly. “What kind of news?” 

It couldn’t be anything ordinary; Enzo wouldn’t call otherwise. It had to be something serious. 

“There’s a negative report about the company,” Enzo said grimly. “I’ve already contacted our PR team to suppress it, but they said it’s impossible to remove. It looks like a top–tier hacker posted it. We don’t have deletion rights.” 

She hesitated, then added, “If it’s not taken down soon, the impact will be huge. Several partners have already called to question the situation some are even canceling their contracts.”

After hanging up, she opened the news. 

The headlines were vicious claiming that her company was on the brink of bankruptcy. 

The articles accused her of acquiring Silverstone Group’s shares only because she was the Kalen family’s heiress, calling her an empty–headed socialite, a decorative figurehead with no real ability. 

They alleged she was neglectful at work, that she kept a young lover, and that her divorce was caused by her own 

indiscretions. 

Sharon instantly understood — these weren’t random gossip pieces meant to humiliate her. They were 

precision strikes, designed to erode the trust of shareholders and partners. 

She scrolled through the comments briefly. Most were filled with scorn, insults, and mockery. 

But her expression remained calm. 

She closed her phone and turned to Thomas, recounting everything she’d just seen. 

Thomas listened silently, his eyes dark and contemplative. 

“This is a good opportunity,” he finally said. 

Sharon caught on immediately. “You’re right. I’ll have our PR team arrange a press conference tonight. I just acquired Silverstone Group the public’s already watching.me closely. With this sudden wave of scandal, everyone will assume I’m overwhelmed. That’s when they’ll lower their guard.”
