“Whether Sharon succeeds or fails, it should be with her own money. Only then can she act as she pleases follow her instincts, make her own choices, and bear the consequences without guilt. 

“If she were using borrowed money, she’d be plagued by worry–afraid of losing, afraid of not being able to repay us. That kind of fear would make her second–guess every decision, and hesitation is fatal in business. I don’t want that burden to hold her back or stunt her growth. 2 

“Her decision to sell the original shares isn’t just about the current acquisition. She’s already planning for the future,” Carter said. 

Julliard froze. He hadn’t expected Carter’s thoughts to run so deep. 

For a long moment, he couldn’t find the right words. Everything he wanted to say condensed into a single line. 

“Carter… you’re right.” 

Carter said nothing more, but a flicker of light flashed through his dark eyes–there and gone in an instant. 2 

Kalen Residence – Silas’s Study 

Silas frowned. “It’s already the second day. Has Sharon still not come to beg Dad or Rick about selling her original shares?” 

Scott replied, “Not yet. Maybe she’s waiting until the third day–until she’s desperate enough to come crawling back.” 

Silas sneered. “So what are we then–garbage collectors? Taking in the trash everyone else throws away?” 1 

Victoria looked as if she wanted to say something, but hesitated. 

Scott noticed. “Victoria, do you have something to say?” 

In the Kalen family, Victoria almost never spoke ill of Sharon. 

Finally, she said, “Yesterday, I went to see Lex. He told me he’d received word that Sharon is planning to sell her original shares. But apparently, not to us.‘ 

Both Scott and Silas turned to her at once. 

“Not to us?”

Victoria nodded. “That’s right. I heard she’s already reached out to shareholders from Shayla’s faction. They’re currently pooling funds to buy her shares.” 

Silas froze, then fury twisted across his face. He slammed his palm down on the table. 

“I knew it! Sharon is nothing but an ungrateful snake, yet Dad and Rick refused to believe me! She’d rather sell to complete outsiders than to her own family! That two–faced, treacherous snake!” 2 

Scott’s expression darkened. “Victoria, how reliable is your source?” 

“I’m ninety percent certain,” Victoria answered. 

Scott’s voice grew cold. “Sharon… She’s really something else.” 

Silas’s anger simmered, barely restrained. He wanted to storm out right then and confront her, but he knew it would only alert her and ruin any chance to act. 

He turned to Scott. “Scott, you’re usually the one with ideas. What should we do? Should we tell Dad and Rick?”

Scott shook his head. “If they find out, it’ll only put them in an awkward position. What are they supposed to take action against her themselves? 

“No. This time, we’ll handle it. Even if Dad and Rick learn of it later, they won’t blame us.” 

Silas’s lips curved into a cold, sharp smile. 

“Finally, some sense. You’ve always been too sentimental. We treat Sharon like family, but has she ever treated us that way? Fine. Let’s show her what the Kalen family is really capable of. Maybe then she’ll stop thinking we’re powerless against her. 4 

“The only reason she’s still standing is because of our blood ties. We’ve been merciful, but not anymore.” 1 

Sharon’s Office 

The phone rang three times in quick succession. Each call came from a shareholder, and each one carried the same excuse–they couldn’t attend the equity transfer meeting after all. 

Sharon’s brows knit together. 

Thomas, noticing her expression, asked, “What happened?” 

Her voice was calm but cold. “Something’s not right.”
