Julliard couldn’t hold back any longer. “Why is he in your office?” 

Thomas replied calmly, “I’m Sharon’s bodyguard. Isn’t it normal for me to be in her office? Why are you so concerned about who Sharon spends her time with? Anyone overhearing this might think you came here to catch her in the act.” 

Julliard’s face darkened. 

“Thomas, you may be her bodyguard, but men and women still have boundaries. You should be more mindful of your behavior. You’ve heard the rumors circulating outside–they’re already ugly enough. 

This isn’t Zachemaine. No one here will clean up the mess for Sharon. If you keep acting so recklessly, you’ll only bring her trouble.” 

Thomas’s lips curved faintly. 

“Compared to me, Julliard, I’d say you’ve done far more harm under the guise of good intentions. If you hadn’t brought Theo along last time to get in my way, would Sharon have fallen into Miles’s trap?” 2 

At that, Sharon quickly interjected, “Thomas, that wasn’t Julliard’s fault. Theo admitted later it was his idea. He insisted Julliard bring him to see us. Julliard had no choice. 2 

“And if it weren’t for him arriving in time, Miles’s scheme might’ve ended far worse. I was on the verge of passing out–if I’d collapsed in the hallway, the danger would’ve been greater.” 

Thomas’s eyes darkened, the light within them dimming to a shadowed stillness. He said nothing more. 

He knew a great deal about what Julliard had done, but without solid proof, he couldn’t move against him. Julliard was cautious. 

And more importantly, Sharon had known Julliard long before Thomas entered her life. In her heart, her trust in Julliard likely ran deeper than her trust in him. 

Thomas had always acted without restraint, driven purely by instinct and will. Now, faced with a man he couldn’t openly eliminate but had to tolerate, frustration burned quietly in his chest. 

Seeing Sharon defend him, a faint smile returned to Julliard’s refined, composed face. The storm of emotion that had nearly escaped him smoothed over, his tone once again gentle. 

“Sharon, why don’t you think it over again? Carter and I can get the money. It’s just that time is short, and we’ll need to gather the funds quickly.” 

He didn’t want to involve Carter, but without him, his own efforts would draw too much attention. Even though he was the one moving heaven and earth for her, in the end it would look as though he’d only done it because his good friend Carter had a stake in it too. 

And before he won Sharon’s heart, he didn’t dare show even a trace of his true feelings. 

Sharon shook her head lightly. “Julliard, don’t worry about me. I’ve made backup plans. If that investor turns out to be a fraud, I’ll sell my original shares instead. That should bring in enough funds–and whatever loss you 

suffer, I’ll make it up to you myself.” 

Julliard opened his mouth to protest, but before he could, a knock came at the office door. 

Enzo entered, carrying a neatly wrapped set of new clothes. “Miss McKinzie, I bought Thomas’s clothing.” 

Sharon nodded in acknowledgment, then caught sight of the man who had followed Enzo inside. 

“Carter? What are you doing here?” 

Carter was about to speak, but his eyes flicked toward Julliard, standing inside the office. 

“I heard you were planning to sell your original shares, so I came to see you.” 

His gaze shifted, cool and assessing, landing squarely on Julliard. 

“Julliard, what brings you here?”
