Sharon was no stranger to handsome men, but Enzo represented a distinct type she seldom encountered. 

She found her gaze lingering on him for a moment longer than necessary. 

Thomas noticed instantly. The warmth in his eyes vanished, replaced by a sudden chill. 1 

For Sharon, it was merely an aesthetic appreciation, and she soon looked away. 

Enzo presented her with several handover files and launched into a detailed briefing on the company’s operations. His concise, professional delivery made it clear he was far more than a pretty face–he was sharp, meticulous, and impeccably trained. 

Her opinion of him rose significantly. 

When he finished, Enzo offered a polished smile. “Ms. McKinzie, would you like to tour the company today? The staff is very excited to meet our new director.” 

After a moment’s consideration, Sharon agreed. 

She had always considered Thomas the epitome of attentiveness, but Enzo redefined professionalism. As a trained executive assistant, he had perfected the art of respectful proximity–always maintaining a polite distance, holding elevator doors, gesturing for her to enter first, shielding her head as she entered the car. Every movement was precise, effortless, and impeccably smooth. 

Sharon usually rode in the passenger seat, but this time, Enzo opened the rear door, leaving her little choice. He slid in beside her, documents in hand, and continued his clear, organized briefing as the car pulled away. 

From the driver’s seat, Thomas watched them in the rearview mirror, his expression unreadable, his lips pressed into a tight line. 

For the first time, he truly looked like just a chauffeur. 

He drove the entire way in heavy silence. 

Sharon, absorbed in Enzo’s presentation, failed to notice the shift in his mood. 

An hour later, the car stopped in front of the company’s headquarters. 

Employees, having been notified of the new director’s arrival, were lined up in neat rows to welcome her. 

Thomas’s sharp gaze swept over the crowd. Among the “employees,” there were both locals and foreigners, most of them young, tall, and strikingly attractive, with physiques that would make a modeling agency proud. 

His eyes darkened further, though he still said nothing. He simply followed a few steps behind Sharon, silent and watchful. 

The staff greeted her with exuberant warmth. Their energy, smiles, and enthusiasm seemed almost too polished -like a scene carefully rehearsed for her benefit. 

After the tour, on the return journey, Enzo’s tone turned earnest.

“The company’s decline began when our core patent was stolen. After that, it was a downward spiral. We had no choice but to accept the Kalen Group’s acquisition. They gave us a year to develop new technology, but… breakthroughs like that don’t happen overnight. The leak occurred because a technician was bribed by a competitor. When we failed to deliver, the Kalen Group lost faith, though many department heads are still fighting to turn things around.” 

He looked at her then, his gaze steady and luminous, like starlight rippling across a deep night sky. 

“Sharon, I just hope you won’t give up on us too quickly. Please.” 

Before Sharon could respond, the car jolted to a sudden, sharp stop. 

Skrrrt-! 

Her heart leapt. “Thomas, what was that?” 

“A cat,” he replied, his voice flat. “It ran across the road.” 

She frowned slightly but didn’t challenge him. “Please drive more carefully. We’re not in a hurry.” 

“Mm.” 

Since taking over that company, Sharon had been busier than ever. 

Her days were a cycle of business lessons and long hours in her office, buried in stacks of files. 

Though Thomas was her personal bodyguard, even he couldn’t be at her side twenty–four hours a day.
