Chapter 1061Â
Silas’s face twisted with rage. “Scott, why are you even talking to him? He’s nothing but a dog at Sharon’s side. What could he possibly know-”Â
Before he could finish, Scott cut him off.Â
“Silas, let him speak.”Â
Scott’s gaze locked onto Thomas. “What did you mean by what you just said?”Â
Carrying a few file folders, Thomas stepped forward at an unhurried pace.Â
“I meant that just because you never saw her doesn’t mean she never saw you,” he said evenly. “Maybe she watched you from afar–many times. Maybe some of the birthday gifts you’ve received over the years were from her, but you never noticed… and never cared.”Â
He paused, his voice calm but edged with something cold.Â
“You’re right, she wasn’t there to raise you. She must have felt guilty. But in the end, she left everything she had to Sharon. Do you know what that means?”Â
Silas asked without thinking, “What does it mean?”Â
“It means,” Thomas replied, “she was completely disappointed in you.Â
“Shayla sent Sharon back to this family so that, after she was gone, her daughter would have her brothers‘ protection. But instead of being her shield, you chose to side with the thief who stole your family–and treat your own sister as your enemy.”Â
He smiled, but the expression never reached his eyes. The darkness in his gaze was glacial–like still water beneath frost, chilling to the bone.Â
“She couldn’t rely on sons like you–men who bully and scheme against their own sister. Tell me, who else could she depend on? On a bunch of useless men like you?”Â
For a moment, the air froze. Thomas seemed to shed his usual calm, a dangerous aura radiating from him.Â
Victoria’s pupils contracted.Â
Silas, however, snapped completely.Â
“Useless? You think we’re useless?” he roared. “You’re the real parasite here–a man living off a woman!”Â
Before anyone could stop him, he yanked out a pistol and pressed it against Thomas’s forehead.Â
“Let’s see who’s useless now!”Â
Victoria and Scott both blanched.Â
“Silas, stop!”Â
“Silas, don’t!”Â

Thomas didn’t even blink. His voice came out languid, taunting. “Pointing a gun at me–what’s that supposed to prove? If you’re really a man, go on. Pull the trigger.”Â
Scott stared at Thomas in disbelief, wondering if he was insane.Â
Anyone else would have backed down. But Silas’s temper was explosive–once provoked, he didn’t think twice. If he lost control, it wouldn’t matter whether his target was Thomas or the head of a powerful clan–he’d still shoot.Â
Victoria knew that too. Her voice trembled as she pleaded, “Silas, please, don’t do anything rash!”Â
Her words distracted him for a split second–just long enough.Â
In that instant, Thomas’s hand shot out and clamped over the barrel.Â
Silas’s head snapped up, meeting eyes that were dark, cold, and utterly devoid of human warmth.Â
A shiver ran through him. The fury that had been driving him burned out instantly, doused like fire under iceÂ
water.Â
He suddenly remembered the rumors–how Thomas had once disarmed an oil tycoon mid–attack. Richard had said Thomas’s combat skills rivaled those of elite bodyguards.Â
Silas had trained too, but compared to Thomas… he fell short by miles.Â
He tried to resist, but before he could react, a sharp crack split the air. Pain shot through his wrist–it had been dislocated.Â
The gun clattered to the ground.Â
Thomas didn’t even glance at it. His tone was light, mocking.Â
“It seems you still haven’t learned your lesson, Silas,” he said, a faint smile curving his lips. “Such a slow learner.”Â
Victoria let out the breath she’d been holding. At least he’d only dislocated Silas’s wrist.Â
For a moment, she’d truly feared Thomas would kill Silas on the spot. 1Â
Thank heavens he wasn’t that far gone.Â
