Chapter 1051 

Samantha didn’t take offense at Thomas’s words. Instead, she offered a thin smile. 

“Sharon, you and your bodyguard seem unusually close. Not only does he involve himself in your family affairs, but he also feels entitled to interrupt a private conversation.” 

The mockery in her tone was unmistakable. 

Thomas responded coolly, “When you were asking about someone’s divorce, you called it ‘direct.‘ Now that you’re being put in your place, you call it ‘rude.‘ You just can’t stand not having the upper hand, can you? 

“The nature of our relationship is none of your concern, Samantha. I suggest you worry about yourself. Before you criticize others, you might want to check if you’re even in a position to do so.” 

Samantha’s smile froze. 

Victoria had warned her that Thomas had a sharp tongue, but she hadn’t expected him to be this cutting. 

Being dressed down so publicly made her cheeks burn with humiliation. If he weren’t the head of the Ferrero family, she would never have tolerated such disrespect. 

But so what if he was? She wasn’t afraid of him. 

The pretense of amusement fell from her face, replaced by a glacial calm. “Mr. Bodyguard,” she said, her voice icy, “has no one ever taught you that interrupting is the height of ill manners?” 1 

“My manners are reserved for those who deserve them,” Thomas retorted evenly. “Life is too short to be polite to people who are irritating, classless, and love to play the victim. 

“Besides…” His eyes locked onto her chilling gaze. “I’m Sharon’s bodyguard. My job is to protect her–from physical harm, and from people with ill intentions. 

“Samantha, everything you’ve just said has made me deeply uncomfortable. In my book, you’ve just been categorized as a potential threat to her safety. 

“The next time you see us, walk the other way. Otherwise…” He paused, his voice dropping to a razor’s edge. “I wouldn’t mind helping Uriah teach his granddaughter some manners.” 

By the time he finished, Samantha’s face was a mask of ice. 

Fury simmered beneath her controlled expression as she turned to leave–only to be stopped by Sharon’s voice. 

“Samantha,” Sharon said, “when I said your chances were slim, it wasn’t because I want Carter back. It’s because his beloved first love, Kelly, is pregnant.” 

With that, Sharon didn’t spare her another glance. She turned to Thomas. “Thomas, let’s go.” 

“Alright.” 

Samantha stared after Sharon’s retreating figure, her brow furrowed in confusion. 

Carter 

Kelly was pregnant? But her true, vicious nature had already been exposed. Carter should despise her now. So

In the hospital room, Victoria finally stirred. 

“Victoria, you’re awake,” Scott said, stepping closer. “How are you feeling?” 

When they had found her, she had been barely conscious. Now, her gaze was clearer. 

She looked around. “Where’s Samantha? Is she alright?” 

“She’s fine,” Scott reassured her. “You should be worrying about yourself.” 

His typically aloof eyes softened slightly. “Victoria, I’ve already contacted Lex. He’s spoken with Uriah personally and will come to treat your hand himself. Don’t worry. It will make a full recovery. This won’t affect your violin playing or your racing career.” 

No sooner had he finished speaking than a knock sounded at the door. 

Lex had arrived. 

Though still recovering from his own injuries, the moment he heard Victoria had been found, he came straight to her. 

Silas, too, had rushed over the moment he heard she was awake.
