Wendy’s eyes lit with sudden realization. “Thomas, you’re brilliant! I never would’ve thought of that.” 

Back then, both she and Sharon had their attention fixed entirely on Jamie and Lex. They hadn’t even registered what the bodyguards looked like-neither had Sharon, for that matter. 

Who would have guessed Thomas would seize upon such a minute detail and turn it into irrefutable evidence that left Jamie with no room to deny? 

With everything finally resolved, Wendy finally felt a wave of relief wash over her. She turned to Sharon with a smile. 

“Sharon, if there’s nothing else, I’ll be away for a little while. Call me anytime you need something. I’ll come right away.” 

With Thomas’s strength and sharp mind, Wendy left without worry. 

Sharon nodded. “Alright. Go take care of your business. If I need you, I’ll call.” 

Not long after Wendy’s departure, Sharon’s phone buzzed. It was a call from Silas. 

She looked to Thomas. “Come with me to the Kalen Group’s HQ. It’s a good chance to get familiar with the place. 

Thomas had no objections. 

Once in the car, Sharon remembered Wendy’s mention of a reward and opened her phone to transfer money to 

Thomas. 

“Thomas, this is the bonus for your hard work yesterday.” 

She hadn’t kept count of how many cars Thomas had wrecked, but she made a generous estimate-if anything, the amount she sent was more than fair. On top of that, she wired him an extra three million as a reward for uncovering the evidence. 

Though Sharon was far from short on money, most of her assets were tied up in investments. After transferring the funds, she was left with only 200,000 dollars in liquid cash. 

For ordinary people, 200,000 dollars was a fortune; for the Kalen family, it was barely pocket change. A single custom gown might cost that much. 

But Thomas didn’t accept the transfer. Instead, he said, “I don’t want money. I want something else.” 

Sharon blinked, a little surprised. “What do you want, then?” 

“Could you paint me something?” Thomas asked. “At the auction, I heard Wendy and the others mention you not only paint, but that you’re the famous painter, MK. The last painting you sold went for several million. That means your art is a real investment-who knows, maybe someday I’ll become a billionaire thanks to your work.” 

Sharon’s left hand was still badly injured, but under Uriah’s meticulous treatment, her right hand had nearly recovered. And to paint, one good hand was enough.

She smiled. “That’s no problem. But think about it-are you sure that’s all you want?” 

The evidence Thomas had uncovered was invaluable. A single painting felt too small a gesture in return; she wanted to repay him more meaningfully. 

Thomas tilted his head, considering for a moment. “So I can add another request?” 

Sharon nodded. 

He held up three fingers. “Then paint me three.” 

Sharon froze for a second, then asked, “That’s it? Nothing else?” 

“That’s all.” 

She hesitated, about to bring up his insomnia-but the words caught in her throat. 

Her expression dimmed slightly. She could no longer play the violin; she had no way to help ease Thomas’s insomnia now. 1 

The car started moving, gliding quietly through the city. 

Thomas, for all his usual warmth and easy smiles, was never one for idle chatter. Without Wendy around to fill the silence, the car felt quieter than before. 

Sharon noticed it too. Ever since Thomas’s brief disappearance, something about him seemed different. 

Outwardly, he looked the same-still calm, still composed-but there was a subtle shift. Maybe it was her imagination, but it felt like his smile no longer reached his eyes, and he didn’t laugh as freely as before. 

After a moment, she broke the silence. 

“Thomas, did you hire a hacker to retrieve the recording from Lex’s bodyguard, or did you handle it yourself?”
