Chapter 9
The old patriarch valued the Jones family’s reputation above all else. If this went to the police and caused a scandal, Adam wouldn’t need to lift a finger–Ryan would make sure he paid dearly.
Adam’s legs gave out, thudding to his knees before Aaron. “Bro, I was wrong! I swear I’ve learned my lesson!
It was all Amy’s idea–that bitch made me do it!
Remember two years ago when you went abroad? She fed me all your travel details. And Rachel… Recently, that surveillance footage of Rachel tampering with Amy’s brakes? Amy hired actors to stage it! Even… even that drinking party last month–I set it up for her!”
“You’re lying!”
Amy screamed at the top of her lungs, face ghostly pale. “Aaron, don’t believe him!
He’s… he’s framing me!”
“Bro, I have proof. All of it–right here.”
Adam fumbled inside his suit jacket, pulling out a spare phone before handing it to Aaron with trembling hands.
Aaron took the unlocked device, scrolling rapidly. His gaze snapped back to Amy, sharp as shattered glass.
“I suspected everyone. Everyone but you. Amy… Why?”
Aaron’s voice was calm, as if discussing trivial matters, yet Amy didn’t dare look up, her body trembling uncontrollably.
Beside them, Adam’s forehead striking the floor echoed like a death knell, accelerating her heartbeat until only one thought remained in her hollow mind: “It’s all over.”
Aaron suddenly moved, his fingers like steel clamps seizing Amy’s chin, forcing her to meet his gaze.

His grip felt bone–crushing, yet his eyes remained frigid, as if Amy were nothing but a
stranger.
“… You deserve this!
Aaron, you deserve this!
We grew up together, I gave you my heart, and you never cared!”
Driven mad by Aaron’s cold, disdainful gaze, Amy screamed recklessly.
“Aaron, you never loved me!
Never!
You only pretended!
I’ve seen how you truly love… No, not you–‘Alex‘. I’ve seen how Alex loves Rachel.‘
Watching Aaron’s expression darken, Amy burst into hysterical laughter, “Ha!… But you’ve forgotten everything. You deserve this!”
You forgot the only person you ever truly loved in your life and drove her away. You scheming, self–righteous bastard, you’ll get what’s coming to you!
Aaron, this is your retribution! This is payback for betraying me all these years!
“You… shut up!”
Vincent Scott heard the news and rushed to the hospital, just in time to hear Amy telling Aaron those things. He was so scared his knees went weak, and even the slap he aimed at Amy’s face turned feeble.
Most of the Scott Family’s business relies on the Jones family. Although he’s an elder, he always bows and scrapes to Aaron like a subordinate.
He knew that since Aaron returned from abroad, he had been quietly eliminating dissenters with ruthless efficiency. But he never imagined that Amy, who was always so obedient and sensible, could be so audacious–she was the mastermind behind the attempt on Aaron’s life two years ago!
“Aaron, I had no idea about any of this she did!”

Vincent’s mind was filled with the thought of not being dragged down by Amy. “She must be… crazy!
Yes, definitely crazy!”
“In that case, I’ll hand her over to Vincent for disposal. Vincent, you won’t let me down, will
you?”
Aaron said gravely.
Vincent knew the Scott Family’s status and business were temporarily secure. His long- suspended heart finally settled. “Of course, Mr. Jones. Rest assured, I’ll give you a completely satisfactory resolution.”
He immediately signaled to block Amy’s mouth, dragging her out unceremoniously.
He’d already decided: Amy would be committed to a psychiatric hospital today. Keeping her confined for at least two or three years, with electroshock therapy twice–no, three times daily… that should keep Aaron satisfied.
