Chapter 9

Anne still tried to run, but Oliver yanked and grabbed her back. He clenched his teeth as he yelled in anger, “This is all your fault! This is all because of you! If it weren’t for you, my wife and I wouldn’t be in this situation today. It’s all because of you, you damn bitch.”

“What’s it got to do with me? You’re the one who’s so cruel that you killed your own wife.” Suddenly, Anne let out a loud scream. For a moment, Oliver was stunned and she took this opportunity to escape, ready to bolt without a second thought. However, his stern expression stopped her.

I floated in mid-air, looking at the two of them in confusion, unsure of what Oliver was going to

do next.

I used to think I understood him pretty well; after all, we had been married for years. But it wasn’t until now that I realized I didn’t really understand him at all.

When he locked me in the water dungeon, I hadn’t expected him to be that cruel. At this moment I couldn’t fathom what he would do to the woman he had always cherished.

At once, Oliver grabbed Anne by the throat and slapped her twice, sending her reeling. However what came next was even worse. He grabbed her head and slammed it violently against the wall, as his eye gleamed with bloodthirst. “I know I’ll definitely be sent to the police station, but it doesn’t matter. Before I die, I’ll take you with me. Someone like you shouldn’t be alive in this world, right?”

I was startled and hurriedly reached out to stop him, unwilling to watch such horror unfold before my eyes. But since I was just a spirit, I could do nothing.

All I could do was watch as Oliver grabbed and beat Anne until she was barely alive. She finally oroke down and started crying and screaming at him.

‘Are you blaming me? Isn’t it because you were so cruel to your wife that you gave me the opportunity? It’s because you didn’t trust her and resented her. You thought she didn’t love you enough and you wanted to use me to scare your wife into loving you more! But in the end, you ost your wife, your child and now you’re going to die too. This is all your fault.”

Oliver was taken aback for a while. Apparently, he did not expect her words. She straightened ner clothes and smiled coldly. “Do you really think you’re such a good person? You’re pretending to be a gentle, good man. A true good man should be accompanying your wife to her death right

10w.”

Oliver froze again, as if something had suddenly entered his mind. His eyes briefly cleared, then quickly grew cloudy and heavy again.

Anne just stared at her, but her eyes filled with laughter and mockery.

“Even if I die, I’ll take you down with me first! Once we’re down there, the two of us will go to my wife together to apologize. Maybe my wife will even give me a few kind words, but you… You’ll be doomed to the deepest hell forever!”

Bam! Anne’s head was spinning from the blows. Terrified, she struggled frantically, but Oliver’s grip was like iron shackles. She had no chance to break free.

She was knocked unconscious and at that moment, the sound of police sirens echoed outside

the door.

I rushed to the door and called out frantically, “Here! In here!”

He had dragged Anne to the basement for punishment. If the police were to conduct a thorough search, it would take some time, as the location was so secluded that even I had to walk a considerable distance to reach it.

I mustered all my strength, burst open the door and the loud noise immediately attracted the attention of the police nearby.

Oliver stared blankly at the door, then suddenly let out a howl.
