Chapter 97
The men all looked at each other. Were they mistaken?
“Where did you hear that gossip? Who started it? If I find out, they’re not getting away with it, “Nathan said as he opened a bottle of wine.
Simon hesitated and replied, “Well… Zayn was the one who said it.”
“Zayn?” Nathan was confused. “Him?”
Then Nathan made a call. After hanging up, he said, “It looks like there was a misunderstanding. Martha somehow heard that I fell for a married woman and was interfering in the marriage. She told Zayn to talk some sense into me.”
Everyone nodded.
So, it was just a misunderstanding. What a fright it was.
Mark said indignantly, “I knew it. Nate can get any woman he wants, so why would he go after someone who’s married with a kid?
“Who the hell started that rumor? It even reached Martha. That’s just messed up.”
up
Sebastian was sitting in a single armchair, looking quiet and withdrawn. He looked and glanced at Mark.
His voice was light, but there was a cold edge to it. “So what if someone likes a woman who’s already a mother? Is that a crime?”
“Well…”
Wasn’t it?
The rest exchanged looks, none of them able to figure out what Sebastian meant. No one dared
to chime in, either.
Since they were kids, everyone had always been a little scared of Sebastian. He was the smartest and the one with the most ideas. What he said went, and when he gave orders, the rest just followed.
Simon noticed the mood turning sour and quickly changed the subject. After a few rounds of drinks, most of them were tipsy.
By 10:00 pm, Mark got up and said he had to leave before his curfew.
The others teased him, saying that ever since he got married, he didn’t even dare to stay out late. They joked that if he did, he’d never get through the front door.
Then, the topic shifted to marriage.
They were all around the same age, 28 or 29, maybe just over 30 years old. After a few years of fun, they eventually had to think about a marriage that served their interests.
“Sebastian, how is it going with Sabrina? When’s the wedding?”
Mark usually wouldn’t ask that. His wife, Jenny, was Sabrina’s best friend, and she had asked him more than once about Sebastian’s preferences.
But today he had too much to drink. With Jenny’s voice echoing in his mind, he blurted that
out.
Right after, he sobered up-because Sebastian looked at him with a blank and cold gaze.
“I never even touched her hand, and there are already rumors about us getting married? I haven’t spoken to her for ages. Can you at least get yourselves updated?”
Mark scratched his head. “Well… Everyone thought you two would end up getting married.”
Simon shook his head, as if saying, “That’s how you feel. Don’t drag me into it.”
Gavin hesitated, then asked, “What kind of women do you like, Sebastian? The entertainment company I own just signed a few new actresses. Do you want to take a look?”
Sebastian knew some of his childhood friends liked to fool around, but he never took part in
that.
Simon nodded in agreement. “That’s true. You’ve never had a girlfriend, and Martha keeps pushing. Why don’t you date one and see?”
This time, Mark picked the right side. He asked, “Yeah, Sebastian. What’s your type?”
He had to have a preference, right?
They all knew Sebastian’s history. He dated someone in university seven years ago, and that
was it.
