Chapter 96
“Alright. I’ll send a first draft to your designated email in the next couple of days,” Valeria replied.
It was 8:00 pm at Aurum.
When Sebastian pushed the door open and walked in, the private room was full of lively
chatter.
These were all familiar friends that Sebastian had grown up with.
As kids, when they played pretend, he was always the regent. Simon, Mark, and the others drew straws to see who had to play the attendant next to the king.
Florian was always the king.
Thinking of the old times made Sebastian recall the kidnapping. He pinched the bridge of his nose, and his tired eyes prickled with a dull ache.
“Sebastian, over here.” Simon raised a hand and waved him over to a card table.
One of the four players got up as Sebastian walked over, making room right away.
He sat down and picked up his hand. His luck was unbelievably good.
Mark said, “You brought him here and expect us to keep playing? My brand-new sports car is about to go to him.”
Sebastian had hardly ever lost at the card table, especially with this group of friends. The worse his mood was, the more ruthlessly he won. When he was in a good mood, he went easy
on them.
Simon smiled and said, “This puts pressure on us. What’s the fun in winning all the time?”
Sebastian smirked lightly. “It really isn’t fun.”
After Sebastian won three rounds in a row, the others looked downright miserable.
Mark looked at Simon and said, “Is this still fun? I’ve lost everything down to my boxers.”
Simon rubbed the bridge of his nose. Just as he was about to suggest another round, the door to the private room opened.
Nathan was late.
Sebastian had to cover for someone at work tonight, so he showed up late.
Nathan arrived even later, and he had a scratch on his face.
Mark let out a loud curse. He got up and said, “Don’t tell me you got caught by the husband. Did he see your face? If he finds out you’re the Ford’s second son and comes knocking for answers, your grandfather will have a stroke.”
Simon hesitated for a moment, then said, “What kind of spell did this woman cast on you? She’s already married with a kid, Nate. Is it really worth it?”
They had all grown up together, so Simon couldn’t just watch one of their own head straight for disaster.
Nathan’s grandfather was a professor at Stredview University. His grandmother came from a prominent family in the classical music world.
If word got out that he was wrecking someone else’s marriage, the fallout would be unthinkable.
Nathan looked absolutely confused. He glanced at his childhood friends and asked, “What are you even on about?”
Gavin studied Nathan’s face. “Did she scratch you? Or did her husband catch you in bed with her? If this hits the tabloids, you’ll be in big trouble.”
Sebastian looked up and took a glance too. There really was a small scratch on Nathan’s face, and he started to get curious, too.
When he first arrived an hour ago, Simon and Mark had whispered some gossip to him. They said that Nathan had fallen for a married woman.
Was this some kind of new trend these days?
Sebastian already thought he was messed up. But no matter how much he was, he had never been caught in bed with someone else’s wife.
Nathan was utterly speechless. They were dumping every rumor on him, and he didn’t even know what was going on.
“What scratch, what woman, and what homewrecker? I’ve been single for so many years,” Nathan said. “The scratch on my face is from Kimi. She just got spayed not long ago and has been in a bad mood.”
Kimi was his cat. He spoke so seriously that everyone froze.
