Chapter 245 

Shane stood up. He was slightly shorter compared to Sebastian, and he lacked the commanding and dignified presence someone who grew up in high society would have. 

Instead, Shane merely looked at his watch and said, “It’s getting late, so I need to bring Lenny home.” 

Shane took a few steps forward before adding, “Thank you, Mr. Grant, for your generous gift.” 

Seeing that Shane was about to take Selena away, Sebastian instinctively wanted to follow them. 

However, when Sebastian saw how natural Selena was as she got in Shane’s car, he sat back down helplessly. 

Sebastian had never been there for Selena for the past seven years. That realization was like a stab to his heart. 

“Mr. Cooper, did you have a fight with Mr. Grant?” Selena asked. 

Shane answered, “No, I didn’t.” 

“Both of you didn’t look very happy just now,” Selena scoffed. 

“Did I look unhappy?” Shane looked at the rearview mirror. Due to his calm and composed temperament, he rarely showed his anger on his face. Not to mention, he wasn’t even angry 

just now. 

“Mr. Grant looked very unhappy,” Selena took a sip of her smoothie and chewed on the bits of 

fruit mixed inside. 

Shane was slightly surprised. “Do you like Mr. Grant?” 

“I do.” 

“What about me?” Shane asked again. 

“I like you too.” 

“Then, Lenny, who do you like more, me or Mr. Grant?“Shane was just asking casually, and he couldn’t help but marvel at the pull blood ties had. 

Selena lowered her head and explained, “It’s different. Mr. Grant is different…”

When Valeria returned to Lucy’s home that night, Lucy fussed about how Valeria should have just let Margaret rest in a room upstairs. That way, Valeria would not have to spend the extra 

penny. 

However, Valeria remained firm on the matter. She knew that Lucy was suggesting such an option with her best intentions in mind, but she could not trouble Lucy any further. 

After dinner, Shane came to talk to her and informed her that he had met Sebastian that 

afternoon. 

Valeria was extremely apologetic as she said, “I didn’t think he’d approach you and ask you to leave. I’ll clear things up with him tomorrow. Did it affect your work?” 

“Sebastian’s offer was extremely generous, but Aloport is too far from Slate City. It’s in the far south and about 1240 miles away from here,” Shane explained with a bitter smile. 

It seemed Sebastian was intent on sending him as far away as possible. 

Valeria was feeling slightly awkward as she had always been afraid of troubling the people around her. She didn’t want the people around her to be troubled because of her. 

So, she said, “I’ll clear things up with him.” 

Shane answered nonchalantly, “If he had chosen a nearer place, I would have probably gone along with it.” 

He did not hide anything and was merely telling Valeria the truth. After all, it was rare for such 

an opportunity to come by. 

Valeria returned to her room upstairs and waited until Selena fell asleep. Then, she stood by the window and looked down at the black SUV parked downstairs. 

There had been multiple car plates with different models parked downstairs for the past few days. However, at a glance, she immediately knew that Sebastian had been sitting inside. 

So, she took out his phone and dialed Sebastian’s number. The call only rang once before Sebastian answered. His voice was gentle yet slightly rushed as he said, “Hello?” 

“Sebastian, must you resort to such underhanded tactics? Lucy isn’t young anymore, and she has a lot of health complications. If you have anything to say, you can just talk to me. You don’t need to chase Shane away,” Valeria said. 

Sebastian answered, “Can the two of you get a divorce? I promise you that I won’t do anything to harm his career, and I’ll even compensate him for it. I just want you two to get a divorce.”
