Chapter 191
Sebastian simply gave a faint smile.
As they brushed past each other, a strong scent of perfume lingered in the air. Even from several meters away, Sebastian caught it. “What’s that smell?”
“It’s perfume,” Zayn answered. “Your sister likes it.”
Sebastian paused mid–step on the stairs. He pondered for a moment before turning and going back upstairs.
When Sebastian came down again, Zayn was also about to head downstairs. As they passed each other this time, he squinted. There was a faint, crisp scent of men’s perfume.
Zayn watched Sebastian leave and went downstairs to find Mallory. “Something’s up with Sebastian.”
“What could possibly be up with him?” Mallory, lounging on the massage chair, narrowed her eyes suddenly and looked at Zayn.
“It’s almost 8:00 pm,” Zayn responded. “He’s all dressed up and even put on perfume. Who is he meeting? He wouldn’t dress up like this just for Mark, would he?”
Mallory’s expression suddenly changed.
She realized immediately that Sebastian was probably taking advantage of the late hour for a clandestine meeting.
Mallory hesitated and rubbed her forehead. “Zayn… In truth, Sebastian has a slight problem.
Don’t tell Mom and Dad.”
“Huh?”
“Well-” Mallory was about to explain when she spotted Wendy walking over from about five meters away. She stood up right away, “Hey, Wendy.”
“Wendy,” Zayn saw Wendy heading for Mallory. Knowing that they probably had something to discuss, he stepped aside.
Wendy uttered, “Mallory, I heard about the development project our family is working on with Davidson Group. It’s the demolition in Cranary, Verdanci District…”
“Oh, that one. It’s mainly handled by Davidson Group now.” Mallory remembered that project.
It was a demolition to build a factory, currently in progress. For the past six months,

Alexander and Wendy had been abroad with Gabriella, so Mallory had been handling nearly all of Grant Group’s projects.
Now that Alexander and Wendy were back, Mallory assumed Wendy wanted a progress update. However, that project they were working on with Davidson Group was small, so Mallory hadn’t expected her to take note of it.
“I just want to know more about it.” Wendy seemed uneasy.
“Oh, sure. I’ll have my secretary email the project plan to you and Alexander,” Mallory replied.
“No need. Just email it to me.”
Mallory frowned slightly once Wendy was gone. When Zayn approached her to ask what was wrong, she shook her head. “Wendy’s acting odd. This project’s tiny, yet she’s asking about it.

Wendy’s interruption had completely derailed their earlier topic, and they began discussing other things.
Zayn was a director of arthouse films.
He had taken on a new script, scheduled to start shooting after the New Year. He discussed the plot with Mallory for a while. However, as a formidable and decisive businesswoman with a style much like Nicholas‘, she found talk of arthouse films unbearably dull.
That was until Zayn revealed more of the script’s plot.
“It’s a forbidden romance. The woman’s married, but the marriage has grown stale. She meets the male lead in secret behind her husband’s back. Society condemns them. Finding redemption in despair, she leaves.
“The male lead throws himself in front of a train. The producers and I were talking about an international release…” Zayn added, watching as Mallory’s sleepy expression snapped awake.
Her body swayed, and he caught her.
“What’s wrong?” he asked.
Mallory rubbed her temples. “I have a headache.”
She could already picture the chaos if Sebastian and Valeria’s affair ever came to light and Nicholas and Martha found out.
Things would be so bad that they might as well wheel her off, too.
