Chapter 188
Not only was Sabrina gifted, but she was a socialite designer, praised by the media, and born into a prestigious family. Now, with a standout piece under her belt, she became an overnight sensation. Endless brand deals and magazine invitations poured in.
The media crowded the office the next day. Sabrina looked radiant in full makeup as she gave
interviews.
The interviewers asked about her design philosophy, what she did during breaks, and how she kept her inspiration flowing.
She answered each question with a smile.
Behind the frosted glass wall, Valeria sat calmly. She could hear Sabrina’s voice from inside her office, and everything Sabrina had said about the design philosophy was wrong.
Sabrina mentioned elegance and opulence, but neither of those words accurately described Valeria’s design philosophy.
When Valeria designed the Black Swan, she didn’t have elegance and opulence in mind. She also didn’t tell Sabrina that the gown was made from a special material.
After changing into the white gown last night, Gabriella should have placed the Black Swan on a mannequin and stood beside it while playing her piece. If she had burned the gown on the spot, the hem would have crumbled away like drifting ash.
That would’ve been the perfect embodiment of Gabriella’s breakout piece, “Rebirth by Fire“.
The special material was made to burn slowly.
Combined with the lighting effects on stage, the impact would’ve been stunning, driving the performance to its climax.
Lindsey walked over to Valeria and whispered, “Valeria, didn’t you design that gown?”
She had seen Valeria sketching the design.
Just then, Sabrina finished her interview and stepped out.
“These are members of my team.” Sabrina’s red lips parted as she spoke. Shifting her gaze toward Valeria, she added, “She is… my design assistant.”
Once the media had left, Sabrina was all smiles, the fame and fortune now firmly in her hands.

Her schedule today was packed. Another fashion magazine was waiting to interview her.
Kayla came out, suggesting, “Tonight, let’s all have dinner together. It’ll be our last team gathering before the new year. Mr. Ford will also be there. Don’t be late.”
Valeria’s gaze was calm.
She merely sat at her desk as if nothing had happened.
Lindsey, however, couldn’t hold it in. “Valeria, shouldn’t we tell Mr. Ford about this? He hates it when something like this happens.”
It was clearly Valeria’s design, yet somehow Sabrina had taken the credit.
Valeria pursed her lips. “Lindsey, if you want to keep your job, pretend you never saw anything.”
“Huh?” Lindsey raised her gaze, looking straight at the person before her.
They had been colleagues for three years, and she genuinely wanted to stand up for Valeria.
Valeria’s tone deepened. “You didn’t see me sketching. You were seeing things.”
She didn’t want to drag Lindsey into unnecessary trouble.
So what if Nathan despised this sort of behavior?
Sabrina was his cousin, after all.
That design had come to Valeria in a flash of inspiration. She probably couldn’t recreate it even if she tried.
As for Sabrina, what would become of her once the buzz wore off?
Lindsey had never seen Valeria with such a stern expression. Valeria was usually gentle, rarely speaking in such a firm tone, so Lindsey nodded at once.
Right then, Queenie leaned over from the side and glanced at Valeria. “What’s going on? Did something happen?”
“It’s nothing,” Valeria replied.
“You two are hiding something from me.” Queenie saw Valeria’s calm expression and turned to question Lindsey,
Lindsey waved her off. “I… It’s nothing.”
At 6:00 pm, Sebastian texted Valeria, “What time are we meeting tonight?”

Valeria replied, “I might be late. I’m attending a company gathering.”
“How about 10:00 pm?” Sebastian asked.
“We’ll see.”
It was that line again.
