Chapter 174
Valeria and Sebastian had not spoken to each other ever since that argument that made him. leave. They did exchange a few words since, but it was only because he was picking up Martha.
Sebastian’s shoulder slammed into Valeria’s–hard.
It was clear that he did it on purpose.
The sound of the rest of the family chatting and laughing upstairs grated on his ears.
As Shane and Valeria were walking together on the first floor, Sebastian could hear them laughing as they went up. He realized that this was their home after all.
It was no wonder that she became so heartless, as Shane had finally returned home.
The family of four lived in harmony. It was no wonder she stopped sending Sebastian any messages for the past few days.
It was simply because Sebastian never mattered in the first place.
He had never seen her smile like that before. It was a bright smile that came from the heart.
Valeria was extremely stunning when she smiled, but it only ever appeared when she was with Shane. It was not like she had a rare taste in men either, as he was barely decent–looking.
She did not dare look at Sebastian. For once, she avoided his eyes.
Sebastian showed up by himself, only to be ignored and left hanging. He never once expected that seeing her beautiful smile while surrounded by her happy family would be such a painful feeling in his heart.
Sebastian shot Valeria a cold glare, causing her smile to freeze up under the bright light.
She lowered her gaze and rubbed her shoulder at the place where he had struck her, all the while refusing to look at him.
Meanwhile, Selena was draped over Shane’s shoulder. Her eyes widened as she was about to call out to Sebastian, but then she saw Valeria shaking her head at her.
Valeria then went upstairs, while Sebastian went downstairs.
Both of them were calm, but their hearts were raging with emotions.
A thin layer of ash soon formed on the ground at the doorway, with a few cigarette butts scattered around–the trace of a man losing his patience in waiting.

Shane set Selena down and held onto her arm to help her steady herself.
Valeria frowned, asking, “Who smoked here? Do they have no manners?”
She was about to unlock the door when she noticed two gift bags placed outside.
Selena saw them as well. “Mommy, what are those?”
Valeria frowned even harder, but she said nothing. She keyed in the password, opened the door, and walked in.
Shane glanced at her and did not ask about anything.
The last time he was here was last year’s New Year.
It was a penthouse that he lived in during his high school days. He wanted a quiet environment for himself while his parents lived downstairs.
It had its own entrance and terrace, despite being an overall smaller home.
Shane had lived here for years, so he was naturally familiar with the place, but he saw that there was new furniture inside that day.
Among them was a branded couch that looked very out of place in the cramped living room.
