Chapter 147
Sebastian held a half–smoked cigarette between his fingers as he said, “Fine. You can hang up. I’ve disturbed you for long enough.”
Glancing at her phone, Valeria couldn’t help but feel that Sebastian was being a little sarcastic.
So, she added, “I’ve just finished showering, and I’m currently in my pajamas. It’s inconvenient for me to go out and talk to you on the phone.
“I’m currently talking to you from the bathroom, and I really can’t speak too loudly. Ms. Mendes has had too much to drink, so she’s currently resting by the window.”
Hearing Valeria’s gentle and long–winded explanation, Sebastian grunted in acknowledgement before he ended the call.
Looking at the ended call, Valeria shook her head and sighed.
People always claimed a woman’s heart was hard to read, but she felt Sebastian’s mind was truly the most difficult thing to understand.
Rubbing her cheeks, Valeria was prepared to head out when her phone rang again. It was a video call this time.
Valeria answered the call and immediately saw Sebastian’s face. He was probably standing under a light as his hair was illuminated brightly.
At that moment, the light was cast over Sebastian’s face, making his face look much sharper and well–defined compared to before. He was leaning against a wall, exhaling the last puff of his cigarette.
Looking at his phone and seeing Valeria’s widened eyes, Sebastian could tell she had just finished a bath and that she probably smelled nice.
She was wearing a loose bathrobe, and her hair was half–dry and hanging down from her head. The top of her head had dried considerably as her baby hair was sticking out.
Valeria did not expect Sebastian to video call her. Hence, she instinctively grabbed the collar of her robes and stood up. “Do you need anything else?”
“Can’t I just call you because I’d like to chat with you? Do I really need a reason?” Sebastian had dropped by Valeria’s house and knocked, but no one had opened the door.
Sebastian couldn’t just head down to knock on Valeria’s grandmother’s house either. Assuming Valeria was just working late, he decided to wait.
But after waiting for a long time and not seeing Valeria, he asked around and soon found out

that Valeria was out on a business trip.
Sebastian looked at Valeria through his phone screen, and he noticed that the hickeys he had left below her neck were still there. He couldn’t help but wonder just how many hickeys he had left on her body.
He narrowed his eyes and wanted a better look, so he demanded, “Take off your clothes.”
Valeria frowned before she inwardly questioned if Sebastian was deranged. Unfortunately, Valeria’s thoughts were evident through her expression.
Those small expressions on her face were a clear giveaway..
Sebastian knew that Valeria was probably cursing at him inwardly, so he took a big and exaggerated sneeze before he asked, “Valeria, did you just scold me?”
“I didn’t,” Valeria answered. It was at that moment that she realized why the background behind Sebastian looked so familiar. It looked like he was right outside her house.
“Sebastian, where are you?”
“I’m in the Uptown District, Third Avenue in Jazzy Trunks Neighborhood, Block 8, Unit 2, house No. 601,” Sebastian answered as the voice–controlled lights went off once again.
His face was enveloped in darkness and only his lips could be seen moving. As he spoke, the lights turned back on again, illuminating his handsome face.
Biting her lip, Valeria’s heart skipped a beat. “What are you doing at my place?”
“Didn’t you tell me you were in pain that day? You also secretly ran off after everything went down. As one of the parties involved, I decided to drop by to look at your injuries and check if they’re still swollen.”
Valeris’s cheeks turned red instantly. How could Sebastian’s expression remain cold and aloof as he spoke such outrageous words?
“I’m fine,” she answered.
Two seconds later, Valeria added, “You should hurry back home and stop pacing outside of my house. There’s a lot of security guards in our neighborhood, and it’s not a good look for you to stay out until so late since you’re not a resident…”
“Are you talking about that old man with two teeth by the entrance who needs a walking stick to support him?” Sebastian played with his lighter as he looked at Valeria’s fair skin.
As Valeria moved, her collar would move alongside and reveal the patch of hickeys on her chest. He didn’t know how many hickeys she still had on her, and he felt his throat turn dry.
Sebastian asked, “When will you be coming back?”

“The day after,” she answered.
“When?”
Valeria replied, “At 6:00 pm.”
She proceeded to answer all the questions he had. However, she had ignored him when he instructed her to undo her robe. In the end, Sebastian finally ended the call.
Sighing in relief, Valeria walked out of the bathroom and immediately met Kayla’s eyes.
Kayla was sitting on the couch with her hands propping her cheeks
- up.
Valeria walked over. The couch and the desk were connected to each other. The second Valeria sat down, her bathrobe shifted and the collar folded.
Glancing at her chest, Kayla clicked her tongue, while Valeria quickly fastened her bathrobe with a flushed expression.
“Those hickeys look quite intense. Did your husband give you those hickeys? It looks like they’ll be there for at least a few more days before they’re gone. You’re lucky it’s winter now, and we’re all covered up.
“You’d think he would take it easy after being married to you for so long. Why did he act like it’s his first time seeing a woman?”
Valeria’s cheeks were flushed as she mumbled, “Ms. Mendes, please stop.”
