Chapter 146
Valeria packed a small suitcase since she’d only be gone for three days. She had gone on business trips a few times before, but she now had two patients in her home.
Before Valeria left, she reminded Lucy and Selena to take care of each other. However, Lucy just waved her hands and said, “I’ll be fine even if you decide to leave for a month, let alone three days.”
The weather in Broburgh City was slightly warmer–around 35 to 37 degrees Fahrenheit–and since the city was near the ocean, the atmosphere there felt quite humid.
Kayla brought her to meet a few of their company’s business partners, but most of them were just maintaining an online shop, so they didn’t have any particularly bothersome requests.
They only requested for Valeria to be quick with new and innovative patterns that stayed
ahead of the trends.
Their request was completely different from the philosophy Valeria once had when she entered the design industry. However, in order to survive, she could only do as their clients
said.
At night, Valeria didn’t drink since she had a weak alcohol tolerance. Not to mention, she wasn’t good at socializing over drinks.
Kayla merely shrugged and did not force her to do anything. Instead, she just turned to Valeria and said, “I drank too much just now, so come and help me.”
Since one of them was bound to get drunk, Kayla decided to take it upon herself to shoulder that duty.
Valeria actually enjoyed working in her current company as both Nathan and Kayla were excellent superiors. Although Sabrina could be quite arrogant sometimes, Valeria would just ignore her.
That night, Kayla got drunk, so Valeria had to help Kayla back to her hotel.
Seeing Kayla vomit as Valeria patted her back, Valeria decided to call the front desk to order some hangover soup for Kayla.
Kayla had a decent tolerance for alcohol, and since she wasn’t that drunk, she had sobered up after she finished vomiting. She also felt much better and had walked over to the window to light a cigarette.
Noticing Kayla was doing alright, Valeria decided to head to the bathroom to take a bath.
During her bath, her phone–which had been placed outside–kept vibrating. After a while,

her phone even rang once.
Once Valeria finished her bath and came out of the bathroom in a robe, Kayla informed her that her phone had rang. “There’s a message on your phone.”
Assuming Kayla had just sent her some important documents, Valeria rushed to look at her phone. However, when she turned on her phone, she realized the messages were from
Sebastian.
Sebastian wrote, “Where are you?”
After a while, he sent another message. “Reply me.”
Valeria picked up her phone and replied, “I’m on a business trip in Broburgh City.”
Once she replied to Sebastian’s messages, she turned on her laptop and began organizing through her documents when her phone rang again. “For how many days?”
Valeria answered honestly, “Three days.”
“Are you alone?”
“I’m with my company’s vice president.”
“A male?”
“She’s a female,” Valeria replied concisely before putting her phone down. But before she could even put her phone down, her phone vibrated, indicating that Sebastian was calling her.
Valeria held her phone and instinctively went to the bathroom.
Kayla looked at Valeria, feeling like there was something off about Valeria.
At that moment, Sebastian’s nonchalant tone rang out. “Valeria, must I ask you question after question for an answer? Couldn’t you just tell me before I ask instead?”
Valeria hadn’t even told him she’d be out on a business trip.
Valeria hadn’t even considered he’d be unhappy because she was out on a business trip. She couldn’t think of a reason for Sebastian to be mad. Didn’t he already have his way with her?
For someone like him, shouldn’t he stop clinging onto her after they’ve slept together?
“Do
you need anything?” Valeria sat on the toilet bowl and subconsciously covered her lips with her hand, lowering her voice in the process.
Sebastian also seemed to have said something, but his voice had been much deeper and softer than Valeria’s. Hence, Valeria hadn’t heard what he’d said.
So, she asked, “What did you say?”

Sebastian’s voice had returned to a normal volume, and his tone remained nonchalant. “Why would I even dare to say anything? I’m currently in a secret meeting. If I raise my voice too loudly, I’ll get punished.”
“I’m sharing a room with Ms. Mendes, and the sound proofing in the hotel isn’t that great. She’ll hear me if I talk too loudly,” Valeria explained.
“Alright.”
Hearing his voice, Valeria exclaimed, “If you don’t have anything important, I’ll end the call.”
The voice–controlled LED light above Sebastian’s head had gone out. He was leaning against a door outside, and as he spoke, the light flickered back on.
The light illuminated the old steps in front of him that had led to a tightly shut room.
