Chapter 136
Sebastian proceeded to drive straight to Aurum.
Since Mark wasn’t there, Sebastian entered the club and decided to find a booth in one of the corners. He felt that it would be better for him to not have any familiar faces around.
After ordering a few drinks, Sebastian placed a cigarette in between his lips and rubbed his throbbing temples. He felt like someone had just cracked his head open.
Sebastian drank one glass after another until he felt the drunken haze creep in.
At that moment, he began to ponder if his strong desire for Valeria would have remained unshaken, had he not failed to find any condoms, or noticed the caesarean scar on her
abdomen.
He had been in Valeria and Shane’s home, lying on their bed, as he lusted over Valeria. He had wanted to cross the line with her.
Sebastian couldn’t help but wonder if Valeria had called out Shane’s name every night just like how she had called him. The scar on her abdomen felt like a knife to his heart.
He wanted to continue, yet he had no choice but to stop himself. The thorn that had long been lodged in his heart now seemed to bear Valeria’s name.
Sebastian ended up spending the whole night in Aurum.
He had decided to return to the Grant residence the next afternoon. When the car accident happened at the entrance of Salmade Primary School, Leo had been home nursing his cold.
Martha believed the gods were protecting Leo when heard what had happened. Hence, she had been donating to the Chandel Church for the past two days.
“I heard the guy was mentally ill, so they can’t prosecute him for his actions! People like him are just vile and disgusting! He was basically waiting at the school’s entrance to get back at society,” Avery fumed.
Martha held a hand to her chest, feeling shaken at the thought of what could’ve happened.
He had initially planned to head upstairs, but when he saw how pale Martha looked, he turned
around and walked toward her.
Martha had a heart condition, and she had gotten surgery for it.
Hence, she wasn’t able to handle too much shock. The shock and worry she felt after seeing the video of the incident outside the school had probably shaken her, causing her heart to feel

uncomfortable.
When Martha saw Sebastian walking over, she exclaimed, “Sebastian, you’re back. Did you hear what happened?”
Sebastian nodded.

“I’m fine. You, on the other hand, don’t look well at all. Judging from your dark circles, you didn’t sleep at all last night, didn’t you?” Martha asked.
Sebastian’s head was still throbbing from his hangover, so he nodded mildly.
Martha explained, “I just got a call from Alexander this morning. The last stop for Gabriella’s world tour was supposed to be at Slate City, but the whole thing got delayed as they decided to add another show in Patrez. So, Alexander’s not back yet because he’s currently in Amaran.”
“It seems like Ms. Grant is popular all over the world,” Avery commented.
Sebastian opened the first aid kit, ensuring that all of Martha’s medication was still inside. With a small nod, he asked where Leo was before heading upstairs.
Looking at his retreating figure, Martha sighed and said, “Sebastian respects Alexander a lot, but he’s not really close to Gabriella. Although Gabrielle’s adopted, Alexander and Wendy had chosen her from the orphanage.
“They love Gabrielle as if she was their own daughter. Back when she was young, she even asked me why Sebastian didn’t seem to like playing with her.”
“Mr. Grant’s temper has always been like that. Not to mention, he always wears a cold expression,” Avery replied, smiling.
“Oh, Avery, we need to get ready. I’ve nearly forgotten that we promised Leo we’d take him to visit one of his classmates,” Martha exclaimed.
By the time Sebastian came down the stairs, he spotted Martha and Leo leaving the house and getting into a car.
So, he asked, “Where’s Mom taking Leo to?”
“Leo wants to visit his injured classmate, Selena. It’s that girl who had come to celebrate his birthday that day,” Avery answered.
Sebastian paused momentarily as he straightened his cuffs.
By the time Martha and Leo came back, Sebastian had already left.
At the dining table, Martha brought up what had happened that afternoon. She mentioned how she felt a sense of familiarity with Selena, and how much she liked the little girl.

Martha exclaimed, “I can’t imagine how nice it would be if Selena really was my granddaughter.”
Nicholas snorted. “Have you been watching too many dramas recently? I haven’t even chastised you for that ridiculous stunt you tried to pull last time.”
