Chapter 106
Valeria texted, “Be careful on the road. She’s allergic to peanuts, so don’t let her eat anything with them inside. Don’t get her too excited, and don’t let her run or jump around too much.”
A woman’s gentle reminders. Sebastian merely glanced at the message, but her voice seemed to softly echo in his ears, like a wife gently instructing her husband and daughter.
The tone was tender and calm. It sent warmth through Sebastian’s chest.
Unfortunately, Selena was Valeria’s daughter, and Valeria’s husband was someone else.
On the road, as the car moved forward and the streetlights cast shadows on his face, Sebastian glanced up at the rearview mirror now and then.
Selena was watching him, too. And she gave him a sweet smile.
Sebastian smiled back. “We’re almost at the mall.”
Leo hated being in the car, and he’d squirm constantly, as if he were sitting on needles.
But Selena was like an obedient little princess, sitting there quietly as she curiously gazed out the window in anticipation.
Sebastian didn’t know if he would ever have a child of his own, but he was sure he’d never have an angel like Selena as his daughter.
At the mall, Sebastian bought tickets and got some popcorn, bringing Selena to watch a cartoon movie that was popular with kids. After that, they had dinner together.
During the meal, the staff pushed out a three–tier pink lace cake with a bear made out of cream
on top.
The staff member thought they were father and daughter, so she handed Selena a plastic knife and fork. “Cut a slice of cake for your daddy.”
Selena’s eyes widened in surprise at the cake, and she was completely overjoyed.
The three–tiered cake was styled like a princess’s dress and topped with a pink bear.
Selena merely gaped as she looked at the cake.
Sebastian heard the staff member’s words, but he didn’t correct her.
Selena had probably not heard what the server said, and she cut a piece of cake for Sebastian.
As Sebastian ate the cake, he noted that it was quite sweet. When he finished the slice, he felt the joy of being a father for a moment.
Chapter 106
“Do you like it?” Sebastian asked..
“I do.” Selena nodded with a bit of cream on her lips.
Seeing Selena so happy made him happy, too.
At the same time, he started to feel a deep disdain for Shane.
He was a tech professional who was making a lot of money, but he was still so stingy with his wife and daughter.
From the look on Selena’s face, this was probably the first time she’d ever seen a cake like this.
Even in his disdain, Sebastian felt jealous.
Besides the cake, Sebastian had also prepared a gemstone tiara for Selena, which was designed in a style that little girls adored lately. He gently placed it on her head and brushed his fingers through her hair. “Happy birthday, little princess.”
It was ten minutes to nine when Sebastian brought Selena home.
As Selena knocked on the door, Sebastian noticed that the pair of men’s slippers that were on the shoe cabinet were gone.
Good riddance. Those slippers didn’t fit him anyway.
Sebastian was in a great mood that night, but when the door opened, his face stiffened.
Because the one who opened the door was a man. And on his feet were the pair of slippers that Sebastian had burned a hole in with his cigarette butt.
