Chapter 104
Sebastian tapped on the keyboard a few times and pulled up Selena’s medical records. He then got up, walked over to Shawn with the laptop, and set it down.
“Take a look at this.”
Shawn glanced at the computer before glancing at Sebastian’s face.
Sebastian pinched the bridge of his nose. Then, he corrected himself with a low voice, “Dr.
Gordon.”
Shawn pushed up his glasses and said seriously, “Hey, that wound looks pretty deep. Why were you so careless? You clearly bumped into something by accident. Or was it a cat scratch? Maybe a mosquito bite?”
A female assistant beside him chuckled and chimed in, “Exactly. It looks like he tripped and
fell on something.”
Sebastian smiled helplessly and shook his head. He rarely smiled and rarely relaxed so much when he was at work. But when he did, his features were strikingly handsome.
He noticed the curious glances from the few who were in the office. Then, he said in a slightly husky voice, “Someone bit me.”
In an instant, the office erupted.
Amid the teasing, Sebastian actually had a rare, slight blush on his face. Though it wasn’t that noticeable, Shawn had caught it.
That normally cold, aloof, and hard–to–approach young man suddenly exuded a rare trace of warmth. He was even joking with his colleagues and didn’t mind them gossiping about him.
Sebastian had always maintained a clear sense of distance from others in the hospital.
There was an innate sense of pride and nobility in his bones, and no one really dared to joke with him in the hospital. At most, people would just whisper behind his back.
Yet, that day, even after being teased to the point of blushing, Sebastian didn’t seem the slightest bit angered.
Jamie even boldly threw an arm over Sebastian’s shoulder. “Dr. Grant, I guess you’ve got something going on now. You should treat our department to a meal sometime.”
Sebastian was clearly uncomfortable with someone putting an arm around him, but he didn’t push Jamie away.
Jamie’s arm was only over his shoulder for a very short while before she maintained

Sebastian paused slightly and glanced around at the few faces in the office before he nodded. ” Alright. I’ll treat everyone to a meal sometime.”
Shawn looked at the file on the computer and leaned in to whisper into Sebastian’s ear, “So you and that little girl’s mother have something going on?”
“Dr. Gordon, I heard the ultrasound department has been overwhelmed lately. Maybe you should go lend a hand. With how sharp you are, we wouldn’t even need the machines,” Sebastian said as he pressed down on Shawn’s shoulder and steered him back toward the
screen.
“So I was right…” Shawn mumbled.
Sebastian heard him.
Shawn continued reviewing the file. He already knew Selena’s case very well. Given how invested Sebastian was in Selena, he’d probably end up being cornered in his own office if he didn’t agree to the surgery.
But there was one thing that puzzled Shawn, even if he chose not to say it.
It was that Shawn thought Selena’s features, especially her eyes and brows, bore a faint
resemblance to Sebastian.
Shawn didn’t mention it because the two were from completely different worlds, and their paths had never crossed before.
They didn’t even know each other before this, so it might just be fate.
Regardless of whether Sebastian really liked Valeria or not, the difference in their backgrounds was too vast. Things were impossible between them.
Shawn knew Sebastian’s character very well. And precisely because he did, he knew that Sebastian wasn’t the kind of man who played around with feelings.
Shawn composed himself. “I’ll have the hospital contact Selena’s mother to finalize the surgery date.”
Sebastian visibly relaxed. “Thank you, Dr. Gordon.”
As he moved the corner of his lips, he accidentally brushed against the wound there. The tip of his tongue pressed against the roof of his mouth.
The sharp sting brought back memories of what Valeria had said the night before.
“What exactly were you trying to do?”
He knew his actions last night were no better than those of a lecher. But he wasn’t going to

He knew his actions last night were no better than those of a lecher. But he wasn’t going to
fake an apology and blame it on being drunk.
Unless a man was completely wasted, he would still retain some clarity.
He remembered exactly how sweet she tasted when he kissed her, and how hot his blood was boiling. He had felt it all so vividly.
In the blink of an eye, it was already Friday.
Sebastian drove to the school gate.
