Chapter 14

Then she quickly nodded and said, “Alright… but is there anything else you’d like?”

Wendi left the decision to Juliana. “Juliana, you can order whatever you want.”

Juliana smiled. “Dinner should be light to keep a good figure. Let’s go with some vegetables. Grover, remember you brought them to me once? They were light and delicious!”

Eunice was speechless.

As she watched the three of them laugh and chat as they walked into the living room, Eunice’s expression grew trou- bled as she left the villa.

Once outside, she pulled out her phone and dialed a number.

They had both ordered regular home-style dishes.

But the dishes happened to be Tracie’s specialties.

When Tracie lived in the house, she took care of all the meals for Grover and Wendi, while the maids, including Eu- nice, had nothing to do and lived like pampered wives.

They hadn’t thought much about it back then. But now, with Tracie gone for a week, they realized that Wendi and Grover’s tastes had been completely spoiled by her cooking.

With Agnes just fired, Eunice didn’t want to be the next to go, so she thought about calling Tracie for some advice.

Tracie had always been respectful toward them. Surely, if she called, Tracie would be surprised and appreciate it, right?

But after she dialed four times and receiving no answer, Tracie’s phone went straight to voicemail.

Eunice muttered angrily, “Tracie, how dare you ignore my calls? She’s really gone too far!”

After venting, Eunice returned to the living room and explained to the three of them, “I’m sorry, but the supermarket didn’t have any good steak, and the vegetables weren’t fresh. Can we have something else for dinner today?”

Wendi’s face immediately fell. “No steak again? I really hate my mom! She goes out and doesn’t come back. Why didn’t she buy the steak I love and leave it at home?”

Eunice stayed silent, not daring to respond.

Juliana, maintaining her calm demeanor, looked at Eunice. “Go ahead and cook. I’ll keep Wendi company.”

“Thank you Mrs. Stanton.” Even though Juliana wasn’t officially Mrs. Stanton yet, Eunice knew addressing her this way would please her.

Chapter 14

“It’s nothing,” Juliana smiled warmly.

Then, she smoothly changed the subject. “Wendi, come here, I’ll teach you some rock climbing tips.”

“Okay!” Wendi immediately forgot about the beef tenderloin.

At dinner, the three of them sat together, laughing and chatting, just like a happy family of three.

In the kitchen, the four housemaids were watching, and one of the newer ones, still confused, asked Eunice, “I’m a lit- tle lost-who exactly is Wendi’s mom?”

Eunice sneered. “Of course, it’s Ms. Everett! Tracie… she doesn’t deserve to be Wendi’s mom or Grover’s wife.”

Just then, Grover’s phone rang. When he picked it up, he saw it was Tracie calling.

He frowned and answered the call. “What is it?” he asked, his voice cool and detached.

Tracie got straight to the point. “Mr. Stanton, come out and meet me!”

She could no longer tolerate the constant phone calls from the Stanton family. Her schedule was packed-she had de- sign work to finish and several important meetings to attend. She was so pressed for time that she had to schedule her meals, yet the Stanton family’s housemaids kept calling her.

None of them treated her like the lady of the Stanton family. They all acted as if she were invisible.

How was it that, even after she left the Stanton family, they still felt the need to call her repeatedly?

Were they trying to reconnect?

Tracie didn’t have time for that.

She needed to speak with Grover directly and make it clear that, from now on, she didn’t want to be bothered by any- thing related to the Stanton family.

Not even the housemaids.

And, more importantly, she had to ask him when he would get the divorce papers.
