every dollar goes to a student of outstanding character who truly understands gratitude.”
I smiled and looked out the window at the vibrant, clear-eyed students on the campus green.
“President, you know, for a while I wavered. I had my doubts. But then I came to a realization.”
“You can’t let one ungrateful person negate all the other souls who are struggling but still striving, still dream
ing.”
“The vast majority of them are good kids, filled with kindness and hope. They deserve a chance. And I am in
a position to give them that chance. In itself, that is a source of profound happiness.”
