Chapter 10

It was windy outside, so they all went indoors.

Seraphina’s biological father’s surname was Beaumont. In New York, they were a powerful dynasty, on par with the Hayes family.

Mr. Beaumont wasn’t as openly emotional as his wife. The first thing he said to Seraphina was.

“Seraphina, you’ve suffered all these years.”

“If we had found you sooner, perhaps you wouldn’t have ended up with a man like Caspian Kingsley.”

Seraphina said, “Dad, it’s not your fault. I was the one who couldn’t tell a decent man from a scoundrel.”

‘Besides, getting hurt once isn’t so bad. At least it forces you to truly grow up.”

‘It also helped me see many things more clearly.”

Seeing how clear-eyed Seraphina was, Mr. Beaumont nodded in satisfaction. “That’s my daughter. You know when to hold on and when to let go.”

‘Now that you’re back, it’s time to leave the past behind. From now on, you are no longer Seraphina Anderson, but Seraphina Beaumont.”

she had no objection. Since she was rejoining her family, changing her last name was only right.

From this day forward, there would be no more Seraphina Anderson, only Seraphina Beaumont.

she would say a final goodbye to her past self and begin a new life.

Before long, Spencer brought out a plate of fruit and placed it in front of Seraphina.

n contrast to Seraphina’s reserved demeanor, Spencer seemed remarkably at home in the Beaumont mansion.

Dad, did you and Spencer know each other before this?”

pencer and Mr. Beaumont exchanged a faint smile.

Mrs. Beaumont took Seraphina’s hand, explaining. “Silly child, you and Spencer have been betrothed since you were babies.”

Spencer’s mother and I were best friends, and we happened to be pregnant at the same time. We made a pact: if we both had boys or both had girls, they would >ecome sworn siblings. If we had a boy and a girl, they would be engaged.”

The Beaumont family is vast and powerful. When you were born, there was internal conflict, which is how you ended up being sent away. But Spencer never topped waiting for you.”

Even when he learned you were married, he said it didn’t matter, that he could wait.”

Seraphina, we’ve watched Spencer grow up. He’s a thousand times better than that Caspian Kingsley. You can trust him.”

eraphina was hit with so much new information it took her a long moment to process it all.

he stared at Spencer. “So, two weeks ago, when you saved me at thirty thousand feet, you already knew who I was?”

pencer nodded. “Yes.”

At that time, your parents had just found you, but you refused to rejoin the family, saying you were already married. Since you were my betrothed, I naturally

ad to meet you.”

I just didn’t expect such a coincidence-that on the very day I went to find you, you and Thalia would be kidnapped together.”

But I also didn’t expect your feelings for Caspian Kingsley ran so deep. He had already abandoned you, yet you still chose him without a second’s hesitation.”

There was a definite hint of jealousy in Spencer’s tone.

Now, speaking of the past, Seraphina was perfectly calm.

I was blinded by love back then, foolishly thinking that if I just gave enough, I would get something in return.”

“But now, I’m wide awake.”

“From this day forward, Caspian and I have nothing to do with each other.”

Hearing this, Spencer’s lips curled into a smile. “Good. As soon as your divorce cooling-off period is over, we’ll get married.”

Seraphina replied, “Okay. But I’ve been married before. Even though we kept it a secret, there’s no guarantee no one knows. If you mind, we don’t have to have

a wedding.”

She didn’t have a wedding last time, so it didn’t matter to her either way.

As soon as she said this, the other three people in the room all exclaimed, “No!”

Mr. Beaumont said sternly, “You’re my only daughter. The wedding must be a grand affair.”

For the first time, Spencer’s expression darkened at Seraphina. His tone was tight. “You don’t want to have a wedding? Am I that embarrassing to be seen with?”
