Chapter 6
The doctors stitched Roxanne’s wound back up for a full hour. The wound could be sewn closed, but the pieces of her heart that had been trampled on couldn’t be mended.
She closed her eyes, wishing her body would heal faster so she could get out of there. Before she could catch her breath, Macy barged in with a bodyguard.
“Roxanne, you can sulk all you want, but don’t starve the baby,” she said. “Stanley hired this bodyguard to help you with lactation.”
Roxanne frowned and reached for the call button, but Macy shoved it aside.
“We’re doing this for the baby. Just hold on, Roxanne,” she said. “I could get a female lactation specialist, but she won’t have a man’s strength. Just let him help with feeding a bit, and your milk will come in. That way, the baby will get milk.”
She took a couple of malicious steps back, stared at Roxanne’s chest, and nodded to the bodyguard. The nearly seven–foot bodyguard closed in, and fear ballooned inside Roxanne.
“Stanley, did you allow another man to do this to me?” she screamed, the pain tearing through her. I’ll never forgive you!”
But all she got in return was the brutal agony of the bodyguard ripping at her clothes and Macy’s mocking laughter cutting through the air.
“I’m doing this for you, Roxanne. You’ll thank me later. Don’t act like some virgins. The bodyguard doesn’t even mind that you’ve just given birth. Why are you pretending?”
She whipped out her phone and started filming Roxanne’s chest without shame. “I’ll send this video to Stanley,” she said. “Let’s see if he still finds you clean after this.”
Her laugh echoed through the entire ward.
Roxanne’s anesthesia hadn’t fully worn off, so she had no strength to fight. Tears streamed down as humiliation, fury, and regret all curdled into hatred.
She hated Macy and hated Stanley even more for siding with the other woman. She vowed that once she survived these days, she’d make them pay.
She felt a sharp pain in her chest as Macy dialed someone. “Stanley, don’t worry. The man I hired will help her. Do you want me to send you the video?”
Hearing that, Roxanne felt a wave of bitter self–mockery.
Stanley had known what Macy was doing all along, but he trusted her and didn’t care about her suffering. It was the baby this time, and what would come next? Would he help Macy try to take her life? The thought sickened her.

Chapter 6
Roxanne passed out from the pain. When she woke up again, Macy was screaming in the room, accusing her of stealing the baby.
Stanley rushed over from the office. He glared at her and demanded she return the child.
“Rox, didn’t I say we’ll have another baby after you recover? What’s with the rush?”
Roxanne’s tears were long gone. Her voice was hollow with disbelief. “Are you saying I stole the baby? “she snapped.
“I had a C–section less than a day ago. After that, I had my wound reopened and sewn again. You think I snuck into the ICU and stole the baby?
“Stanley, aren’t you overestimating me?”
Stanley was caught off guard by her words. Glancing at Macy, who was sobbing in his arms, his tone hardened. “No one would take the baby except you. I don’t know what tricks you pulled or who you called, but you have one hour to bring the baby back.
“Or I’ll have Macy post that video online. Don’t make me do it, Rox.‘
