Chapter 20

What did Roxanne just say?
So, the CEO of Novex Technologies… was Roxanne?
Stanley stood there, stunned. He never imagined that the person in charge he had been trying to
meet was none other than Roxanne.
At that moment, everything suddenly clicked. It was Roxanne who had taken the child, and it was she who had delivered the kidnappers to his doorstep. No wonder he hadn’t been able to find her all
this time.
But in Brindley, the Frey family was already one of the top old–money families. So, where the hell did this Timothy Reid come from that made him willing to bankroll Roxanne like this? Did he not realize that the one she truly loved was him, Stanley?
Besides, in Stanley’s subconscious, Roxanne was still the fragile woman who needed his protection. He couldn’t reconcile her with the ruthless CEO taking over the business world.
“Rox, stop joking. You know I could never bring myself to do anything to you. This man isn’t worth it. As long as you come back to me, I’ll forgive you for leaving these past three months. Let’s go. Bring the baby, and we’ll go back home,” he pleaded.
Roxanne couldn’t stop the scoff from escaping her. “How did I never realize how narcissistic you are, Stanley? What makes you think I’d still be willing to go with you after you hurt me like that?
“Come on, Timothy, let’s go home. Seeing him makes me want to throw up.”
Stanley tried to chase after her, but he was stopped by the security guards. Only when Roxanne’s silhouette disappeared from view did he finally turn around and leave alone.
It was raining heavily outside then, but it was as if Stanley didn’t even notice the rain pouring down on him. He had never given up hope during the three months Roxanne was missing, but now, he felt as if he was truly about to lose her.
Right then, his phone rang. It was a call from Macy.
“Stanley, I’m spotting a little. I’m really scared. Can you come home and stay with me?” she whimpered.
Roxanne’s hands were still trembling long after she exited the VIP club. She was nowhere near as calm as she appeared.
The hatred in her burned so fiercely that it made her physically shake. She wanted nothing more than to kill Stanley right there and then.
“Roxy, it’s all over now. The baby pulled through too. Everything’s moving in the right direction,”

Timothy said, gently patting his sister’s tense back, his heart aching for her.

After the baby was stolen from the neonatal intensive care unit, the ruthless kidnappers had just dumped him somewhere and left him starving for a whole day. By the time Timothy found him, the baby was barely breathing, lying on the ground unconscious.
Timothy had thought that he wouldn’t survive and rushed him back to Airville that very night. Thankfully, it was as if the baby knew that his mother was waiting for him, and he fought his way back from death’s doorstep. After staying in the NICU for two months, he had made a full recovery.
Last month, the baby was finally discharged and brought home. Timothy and Roxanne’s parents were beside themselves with worry, and they immediately cradled the baby in their arms, while also hiring three nannies to take care of him.
The baby had finally gained some weight this month, and only then did Timothy dare to let Roxanne video call to see the baby.
And the person responsible for all this was none other than the child’s own biological father- Stanley. Yet, here he was, having the audacity to ask Roxanne to go back to him. Even Timothy was furious enough that he wanted to kill Stanley, let alone Roxanne.
“It’s not something that can just be over, Timothy. You know me. When I loved him, I loved him fiercely and with everything I had. Now that I hate him, I won’t settle for just anything either. But this revenge, I’ll exact it myself.”
Roxanne smoothed out her outfit and returned to the private room at the VIP club.
The private gathering today was one with Quinn Moone, the heiress to the Moone family. Over the past three months, Roxanne had forced herself to grow stronger. She stopped lactating, got her health back on track, and began socializing with Brindley’s socialites.
It was a good thing that the social skills she had honed before going off to study hadn’t entirely faded. The socialites from Brindley were no different from the ones she came across in Airville.
Quinn, however, was the exception.
Roxanne believed that in order to completely destroy the Freys in Brindley, Quinn was the key.
“Things were quite heated in the lobby just now,” Quinn remarked.
Quinn was the youngest daughter of Alfred Moone, also known as the only one who could go head–to -head with the Freys. Now 80 years old, Alfred was surrounded by children who were all scheming
over his fortune.
“I never thought Mr. Frey could be so devoted. You’re very lucky, Roxanne.”
Roxanne pulled out a sketch of a newly designed piece of jewelry from her bag and placed it on the table. “Would you like that kind of luck?” she asked, going along with what Quinn had said.
Quinn hurriedly shook her head, but her hands didn’t stop sketching. “Forget it. I’ve sworn off love for this lifetime. Money’s the only one I’m fated for.

“Besides, that kind of ‘good luck‘ is better left for Macy, that fake ass bitch. She even sank her claws into my 80–year–old father before and gave him three illegitimate children!”
She continued, her voice dripping with sarcasm, “Having so many babies–she’s a real time-
management expert, isn’t she? Roxanne, when are we making our move?”
Roxanne answered firmly, “The day Macy gives birth. It’s time Brindley changed hands.”
