5 Chapter 5
“It was that bitch Lucia. It was all her…”
Rocco’s parents fussed over him while Carmela stood dutifully by his side.
Hearing the sound, Rocco’s parents rushed inside.
To this day, they still remembered how I had fought them, leaving their family cornered
and bleeding.
When his eyes landed on Salvatore, Rocco’s expression tensed.
She put on a pitiful, tearful act.
Seeing Salvatore, Rocco’s parents and Isla’s expressions shifted instantly.
“Rocco, your uncle rushed over as soon as he heard. See how much he values you.”
But Salvatore hadn’t attended the last family dinner, and the man had gotten a taste of
authority.
He had gone home first, only to find I’d been taken.
Isla, ignoring everything else, grabbed my arm and dragged me into the room.
For some reason, this enraged Salvatore, who cut her off with a snarl.
In her panic, Carmela didn’t watch her words, and the title “heir” hung in the air.
They thought this was a sign.
“Uncle, you have to get justice for Rocco. He’s the future heir of the Corleone family. You
can’t just let this go.”
Rocco’s parents shot her a sharp look.
Once they had control of the Corleone family, who would dare look down on them?
“Salvatore, what brings you here?”
So he used his first name, hoping to bridge the gap between them.
Salvatore’s expression turned to ice, but when he looked back at me, his eyes softened with concern.
When he arrived at the hospital, he was flanked by several of the family’s top caporegimes. The entire corridor fell silent at the sight of him.

5 Chapter 5
Salvatore had come straight from the airport.
Rocco’s parents were beaming. They remembered that when Isla had mentioned the
“heir,” Salvatore hadn’t objected.
Ordinarily, as a subordinate, he would never address the Don so informally.
Salvatore glanced at him coolly, then his eyes found me.
But the clueless Isla chimed in without a trace of tact.
He had arrived just in time to hear Isla call me a parentless orphan.
But the next second, Salvatore’s voice cut through their delusions, sharp as glass.
“Uncle, why are you here?”
Their branch of the family was finally about to rise.
Isla spoke up hastily.
He assumed Salvatore was here to see Rocco, to stand up for him.
“Carmela, you weren’t wrong. My brother will be the successor to the Corleone family.
Uncle will definitely help him.”
Salvatore’s gaze flickered to Carmela.
“My uncle is here now, and you know his reputation. If you don’t make this right, you’re in
for a world of pain,” she hissed.
His gaze remained locked on Rocco.
Carmela suddenly realized her blunder.
“Uncle, it was this woman. She hurt my brother. He’s still unconscious.”
“What’s going on?”
Just then, a groan came from inside the room. Rocco was waking up.
“Now that my brother’s awake, you’re going to apologize.”
They never imagined I actually knew the Don.
But thankfully, those days were over. They would never be humiliated again.
I shook my head at Salvatore, about to speak.
At those words, the color drained from the faces of Rocco’s parents.

5 Chapter 5
Before I could speak, Isla pushed me aside and squeezed her way in front of Salvatore.
Seeing their son clutching his head in pain, Rocco’s mother’s heartbreak twisted into pure
resentment for me.
Rocco’s father looked at Salvatore with a fawning smile.
“Shut up. I wasn’t talking to you.”
Rocco’s gaze snapped to me, standing behind Salvatore.
“I… I mean, Rocco will take over his father’s duties and work for you, so… so you can’t let
the person who hurt him get away.”
Only then did Rocco see who else was in the room.
“Who gave you the nerve to touch my woman?”
His tone was ice–cold, devoid of any warmth.
“Are you all right?”
Her cries seemed to cue Carmela, who also shuffled forward.
