Chapter 97 That Seat Belongs to Rosalie
The next day, Rosalie was busy with work when she got a text from Julian. “When are you going to take me and my friends out to eat?”
It suddenly dawned on her that she had promised to treat him and his friends to dinner after she was
discharged.
She had completely spaced on it, and now, he was the one to bring it up. She cringed at how rude she
was being.
But if Rosalie were to buy them dinner, she would have to face Julian. That thought alone made her feel
uneasy.
However, she might as well get it over with, so she gritted her teeth and replied, “How about tonight? I’ll send you the location later.”
She paused for a second before adding, “You should probably invite Mr. Fairbank, too.”
After that, Rosalie switched to another chat. “Are you free tonight, Ursie? I’m taking Julian and his friends
from the firehouse out to eat.”
Ursula responded, “I’m not interested. As much as I enjoy some eye candy, I don’t want to eat with Julian.”
Rosalie smirked as she wrote, “Did I forget to mention? Edmond is also going to be there.”
Ursula texted, “On second thought, you can’t be the only woman at a table full of dudes. That is so uncomfortable. As your best friend, it’s basically my duty to be there.”
Rosalie chuckled in resignation.
In her past life, Úrsula tied the knot with Edmond. But in this lifetime, Ursula had never told her about it, so she chose to play along and pretended she didn’t know anything.
That night, Rosalie booked out the entire barbecue joint near the fire station. The second she got there,
Julian came in with his group.
The young firefighters were tall and fit. They looked just as sharp in regular clothes as they did in uniforms. They were also bursting with so much energy and charisma that people on the street couldn’t
help but turn their heads.
Rosalie looked up, and her eyes immediately met Julian’s, who was leading the group. Her heart skipped a beat, and she instinctively glanced away.
Crispin hustled right up to her and shouted, “Rosalie!”
The others quickly joined in, greeting her like eager puppies. “Hello, Rosalie.”
Rosalie’s cheeks turned rosy. She waved her hand, feeling flustered. “Grab a seat. Make yourselves at home. Don’t be shy about ordering.”
The firefighters immediately mobbed the tablet to start ordering.
Meanwhile, Julian made a beeline for Rosalie. She panicked and suddenly didn’t know where to look. She clutched her phone tightly, pretending to be anxious. “Where’s Ursie? I should call her and see what is taking her so long.”
After finishing her sentence, she kept her head down and hurried out. He stayed where he was, watching her make a quick escape. He just raised an eyebrow, looking amused.
Someone called out to him, “Hurry up and order, Captain Yarwood.”
Julian withdrew his gaze, walked over, and found a seat. Crispin moved without thinking to sit by his side.
Julian leaned into his seat, tossing his arm over the chair next to him like it was nothing.
Crispin blinked, then chuckled knowingly. “Got it. That seat is for Rosalie. I’ll sit over here.”
Edmond arrived a moment later. He casually looked around and whistled. “Not bad at all.”
He raised his hand to wave at Julian and was about to say “Charles” when he saw the firefighters next to Julian. He quickly corrected himself, “Julian.”
As she spoke, he started to sit in the empty seat next to Julian, but Crispin stopped him. “Rosalie is going to sit there, Mr. Fairbank.”
Edmond paused, then shoved Crispin away. “Then, I’ll take this seat.”
Crispin wasn’t having it and shoved Edmond back. “That’s my seat. Grab the empty one across the table.” Just as the two of them were fighting over a seat, another person showed up at the door.
