Chapter 96 Outshine Her Husband

The salesperson went pale. He quickly gathered up all the clothes and hurried off to get a different size.

Lucian’s face fell. He narrowed his eyes at Rosalie and said, “It must be an escort. Is it the guy from outside the hospital? He must have charged a lot for his service.”

Ursula fired back without missing a beat, “Do you really think money can buy everything? Not everyone is like you. Listen up, Lucian. You’d better stay away from Rosa, or you’re going to regret it.”

The salesperson hurried back with the new clothes and respectfully handed them to Rosalie. She took

them, acted like Lucian wasn’t even there, and walked right out.

Camelia, who had been quiet the whole time, cut in, “Were you with Mr. Yarwood the other night at the

charity banquet, Rosalie?”

Rosalie didn’t even break her stride or bother to look her way.

Ursula whipped her head around, flipped Camelia off, and mouthed, “Homewrecker.”

With that, she stuck her tongue out and hurried after Rosalie.

Camelia’s face turned beet red, her eyes quickly welling up with tears. She looked like she was wronged

but chose to bite her tongue.

Lucian felt a pang. He wrapped an arm around her and murmured, “Don’t listen to a word Ursula says.

She’s just some country bumpkin with no manners and no proper job.

“Ever since the Reeds took her in, all she does is mooch off them without a care for the future. She’s not

worth getting upset over.”

Camelia nodded, but she was still pretty down about it.

Lucian spun around and told the salesperson, “I’ll take both of those outfits she just had.”

Camelia looked up at him, not getting why he would do that.

Lucian’s expression was hard to read. He explained, “Rosalie has decent taste for clothes. She used to

buy all my clothes. This just saves us the time and hassle of picking something out.”

Camelia’s nails dug into her palms, but she kept that sweet, understanding look on her face. “I’m just

worried, Lucian. What if Rosalie sees you in that? She might jump to conclusions.”

Lucian sneered, sounding downright conceited when he assured, “Relax. It’s just casual wear. What are

the odds? Even if we run into her, it’ll just prove I look better than her husband.”

Camelia clenched her hand at her side, forcing a strained smile.

The moment Ursula left the store, she stomped her foot in frustration. “This is the worst! I knew I should have checked my horoscope today. Why did we have to run into those two jerks?”

She hooked her arm through Rosalie’s, ranting and grumbling without a break.

Rosalie patted the back of Ursula’s hand. “Calm down. Don’t let them ruin your day. How about I treat you to a manicure?”

Ursula’s mood instantly shifted. Her eyes lit up in excitement. “Good idea. It’s been forever since we got our nails done together. The last time was right before your engagement.”

She stopped talking abruptly, looking pissed again.

Rosalie remembered it clearly. They were happily getting their nails done when Lucian called halfway through, saying he needed her. She just took off and left Ursula behind.

Ursula was all by herself, sitting through the awkward session alone in a salon packed with romantic pairs.

Rosalie squeezed Ursula’s arm firmly. “You have my word, Ursie. I’m never ditching our plans for a man again.

“Go ahead. Feel free to pick the most expensive and longest package they have. I’m staying with you for the whole thing.”

Rosalie kept her word. She sat with Ursula at the salon for five hours, even though it meant not being

home in time to cook for Julian.

She texted Julian, “I’m with Ursie getting our nails done. I ordered you takeout for dinner. It’s not precooked stuff, so enjoy.”

After sending the message, Rosalie visibly relaxed.

Ursula eyed Rosalie knowingly, seeing right through it. She was likely using their hangout to avoid Julian.

But since she was so sincere about it, Ursula decided to let it slide.

Rosalie came back to her apartment late at night, carrying a bunch of shopping bags. But she couldn’t

quite bring herself to go upstairs just yet. In the end, she put everything in her room.
