Chapter 88 Crying Out to Julian

The banquet hall erupted with chatter. “Isn’t that Mr. Fenwick from Fenwick Group? Why is he going up against Mr. Yarwood?”

Another voice cut in, “Haven’t you heard? Fenwick Group has been on fire lately, taking several sweet opportunities off Yarwood Group. Everyone is talking about how the Fenwick family is going to be the most influential family in Claver.”

One of the onlookers jumped in, “Oh, my God. Are they really going head-to-head? What for? Don’t tell me it’s over a woman.”

The next person remarked, “I heard it’s the one he just called off the engagement with. She’s from the Ashford family. People say he’s over her, but it looks like he hasn’t.”

Camelia heard the chatters, and her expression turned sour.

She also shouted at the door, “Rosalie is like Lucian’s younger sister, and that means she is my friend as well, Mr. Yarwood. What are you planning to do by locking her in there alone?”

Hearing that, Abigail went pale. Throwing etiquette out the window, she lifted her hem and rushed

forward.

With a click, the banquet hall was suddenly plunged into darkness.

Someone shouted, “What’s going on? Is the power down?”

The blackout lasted only a few seconds before the soft lights flickered back on. As the crowd turned to

look, they realized that things had changed in the hallway.

The bodyguards in black outside the VIP room were gone. The tightly shut door was now slightly ajar.

Lucian was the first to move, bursting through the door. “Rosalie.”

The room was empty, with no one inside.

Camelia hurried in right after, looking around in the room. When the scene she had pictured wasn’t there,

she furrowed her brows.

She bent down and picked up a pair of glasses from the carpet. “Take a look, Lucian. Aren’t these Mr. Yarwood’s glasses? He’s always so meticulous about his image. If he dropped his glasses, could it be that

he and Rosalie-”

Lucian raised his voice. “That is impossible.”

Charles had a reputation for loathing women. Anyone bold enough to make a move on him ended up regretting it.

Besides, in Lucian’s previous life, Charles had rushed into a marriage with a college student to go against his family.

But in those years, Charles never fathered a child. Chances were, he was just like Anthony Yarwood, his older brother in the wheelchair. Even though he appeared untouchable, he was infertile.

When Rosalie threw herself at Charles, it was even more dangerous than anyone realized.

Lucian spun around, his voice tight with panic and anger he didn’t even recognize in himself. “Go look for her now. Turn this hotel upside down if you have to. I want to see her.”

He pulled out his phone as he spoke, dialing Rosalie’s number.

Camelia stood behind Lucian, watching him on the edge of losing it. A cold, vicious glint flickered in her

eyes.

Meanwhile, Abigail was so anxious that she was about to faint. She was looking for the hotel manager when a bodyguard in a suit walked up to her and nodded politely.

He said, “Mr. Yarwood asked me to let you know he had some personal business to take care of with Ms. Ashford, Mrs. Ashford. He’s already left with her, so you don’t need to worry.”

In the presidential suite on the top floor of the same building, Julian pinned the restless Rosalie in his

arms down onto the bed.

He put a knee on her legs to keep her from moving. Then, he grabbed both her wrists with one hand and held them high above her head, pressing them deep into the mattress.

She was burning up and couldn’t get the relief she needed, so she cried out in desperation, “Please help

me.”

Her whimper was faint, trembling through her sobs. It melted the heart of anyone who heard it.

She looked up with watery eyes, her face flushed red from crying. Her voice was soft as she pleaded, “I just feel so terrible.”

Julian swallowed. The look in his eyes turned dark and intense, and every muscle in his body wound tight. At last, he yanked his tie in frustration.

The next second, he flipped over and picked Rosalie up from the bed, heading straight into the bathroom.

A blast of freezing water hit Rosalie from above. She shivered from the cold, snapping her out of her daze.

It took all her effort to raise her head. With water streaming down her delicate features, she fought through the haze, her eyes slowly focusing on the man standing over her.

She realized she wasn’t facing the high-and-mighty Charles with the glasses anymore. “Is that you, Julian? I feel awful. Can you help me out?”
